January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

The mods threw a strop last year that the transfer window thread was being taken off course. I believe their directive was that if you felt an issue was worthy of a thread then you should make it. It got 22 replies in a short time so obviously people thought it worthy of comment. Do the mods want use to go back to the mega threads then?

Perhaps we should just have one big thread for everything as clearly we have such a small limit on thread numbers.

I mean it was fine to have a thread about Kenny's column in the daily mail...but I guess he is Liverpool boss.

It was being discussed in here first before the thread was started, in that situation you're going to get people discussing the same thing in 2 different threads, just go with the one that was first posted imo.

Yeah but it isn't a transfer so clearly doesn't belong in this thread, I don't see the harm in having one little thread to celebrate a player's career. Clearly it's against the "can't have any United threads" rule that seems to exist around here, but it's ok we can have threads about Karren Brady, what a female lineswoman does in her spare time and a comedy video about Beckham and Spurs.

He'll be on 40k at Stoke and they are only willing to keep paying £20k when he is out on loan. Fulham only willing to pay £10k to Stoke so he pays back £10k himself to make up the shortfall.

Surely that just means he gets paid the £20k by Stoke and the £10k from Fulham and that's where it stops? If they can then it makes much more sense to simply vary the contract than forcing a payment of £40k per month through with the 20/10/10 split.

I don't know for certain but I'd suspect it was already mentioned in here and therefore was judged to be unnecessary as a seperate thread.

just rtm the posts in this thread if you consider them off topic.

And G|mp while I wouldn't normally have a problem with it, despite Andybtsn's contention it is the mods who requested us to keep threads on topic and to create new threads on new issues. When two people start the same thread about the same issue then yes I'd agree, just go with the one that started first, however posting about an entirely different topic in an existing thread is a different issue.

You're probably right but you know how it goes, it will end up in a slanging match about all sorts of things and be locked within 2 pages.

I imagine that's what they can't be arsed to deal with.

Why would it end up in a slanging match?

Surely if that was the case then the trolls should just be banned?

I mean that's the way forum moderation is done isn't it? You punish the people who cause the problems, not the people who want to have an on topic discussion.

There is of course some leeway in terms of threads sticking to the topic. I mean look at this thread, you think it's all been about transfers?

Come on Shami you know exactly what I mean. cheets has been on here for years trolling and he hasn't been banned yet

Exactly.

Yep but my point is that in this we've gone a dozen or so posts complaining about an on topic thread and there's still room for two pages of arguments which someone would have to tidy up/delete/move to a new thread and in the meantime people who may wish to discuss the transfers they did/didn't make in the window (as in stay on topic) have to read through it, whereas if it was in it's own thread they'd have the choice to enter or not.

Precisely, there are some people that troll regularly and the mods do absolutely nothing. Yet a perfectly valid thread that breaks zero rules gets closed without an explanation, it's pitiful. This doesn't happen in the other sub forums that I read on here so I have no idea why it happens in here.

Meh, **** happens, I just think it was better to be discussed in here and let it fizzle out, to be fair to Nev (and I love him) we're not going to be talking about him for too long before it descends into an argument about this that and the other. It had already started in the short amount of time the thread was open.

It happens all the time in Consoles, PC Games, SC, GD..............

You have to remember as well the Mods in SA know a lot of us and know exactly what we're like.

I'm the worst for it you know that and as soon as someone started in there it would have turned into a full blown argument, it always has and always will.
