January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Said he'd resign over the F.A. Charges of fielding a weaker side, didn't.

He actually said he's offer to resign. He offered it, and It wasn't accepted, as I'm sure he was aware it wouldn't be when he made the statement ;)

Said Adam is worth X more then was reported, due to him getting a cut of the fee.

He also said he's get a better bonus if they stay up, which I'm sure Adam will help them do. He just wanted the most money for his player, which I'm sure most managers would do. And if Liverpool would play 35m for Carroll, Adam has be worth at least 25m ;)

Oh and Phil Brown is a ****, Holloway isn't.

Was that the game V Palermo? (pink strip)

If it was they were awful, they got torn apart in the first half and Leonardo took the left back off at half time and Pazzini on, he scored 2 and they won 3-2 in the end with Eto'o getting a penalty.

They were awful in the first half and for most of the second, if that Inter team played like that against an English team they would be ripped to bits.

Nah, that was the weekend, that new signing also scored tonight, though apparently Chivu full on punched someone in the face, off the ball but its expected he'll get a decent ban for it because it was on camera, just missed by the ref at the time. They won 3-0 to, Bari, someone bottom of the table, cba'd to check.

Everyone puts in bad performances, thing is Inter have the players, the experience and the form of champions, look at Utd, winning while playing crap and every so often when playing well also :p

An almost 13 point turn around, in a single month is ruddy immense though, 6 wins and one draw in 7 games, frankly with a, 48 in a row title winning Inter side almost any manager should be safely in the top couple and certainly not 13 points + a game extra player.

Anyway as for Hollaway as said, he offered to resign, its playing up to the media, most managers do it in one way or another, he's generally funny when he does it.

As for Adam's most players AND managers get bonuses for league position, titles, lots of other targets. Its not surprising a targets for Holloway would be set as money for staying up, probably more the higher up the table he managers to get and financial bonuses based on how well the club does in that area also.

It also sounded like he'd get more money the more they got for Adams, not that he'd specifically get a cut, I read it as he gets a bonus at various points if the club makes a profit.

Either way, Adam's has played like a player worth well more than 10million and they had no incentive to sell at all. Look at the wages the Blackpool players are on, selling Adams is ONE part of the puzzle, bringing in a replacement, well how many players can you buy for 5-10million as a replacement, where you can negotiate sub 10 or 20k a week wages....... none. They bring in one replacement at 25k a week and their wage structure is blown completely, every single last player will want 25k a week, then the top scorer will want 40k a week, etc, etc, etc.

Based on the fact that Liverpool, Spurs, supposedly Utd and a couple other clubs all wanted Adam's asking for over 10mil isn't even close to over the top, and the longer term implications on the club would cost vastly vastly more than whatever money they can get for him. 14mil wouldn't be close to an unfair price. Don't forget Liverpool were essentially unsettling the player, a 4mil bid, then several ones lower than they've hinted would be accepted, most clubs don't take kindly to weeks of bids, at 4-6mil vastly vastly undervalued, trying to unsettle the player.

If anyones to blame its Liverpool for trying to unsettle him, Chelsea bid 40mil for Torres, they told them the price, they came back with that price, in a few days and it was over.

I'm sure I read that Liverpool offered something in the region of £12 million on the last day & had it knocked back.

Whereas Spurs had a bid around £6.5 million accepted apparently. It just didn't go through in time, etc...

I watched the whole game, they were awful trust me.

Palermo were opening up their back 4 at every opportunity, Stanton and Maicon were getting pulled all over the place and the CB's (can't remember who it was) were shocking, no pace at all.

I'd hear 14 Million from Liverpool offer was too late (matching Blackpool's asking price) and 'Spurs had offered 8.5 but they couldn't agree personal terms.

Ahh. Might have helped if the Blackpool chairmand hadn't been ignoring calls throughout the day from Anfield, well so they said anyway.

So much for Harry's ' we missed the deadline by 2 shareholder signatures ' then :)

The more likely rumours are Liverpool offered 10mil finally, then Spurs offered around 12 and it was turned down, then Spurs came out with a load of nonsense, maybe just wanting to seem involved, I have no clue.

Adam's agent says they hadn't spoken to Spurs or discussed personal terms so the idea they were two signatures from getting the deal done is downright rubbish, frankly with the other rumours, which on the night were a seemingly bigger bid than Liverpool being turned down, Redknapp's story holds no water. It does sound like they just offered more than Liverpool and had it turned down, why they tried at a few minutes to the deadline I don't know, why they seem to be making up rubbish about it I don't know.

I think its worth pointing out this was more Holloway banter, I'd interpret it as, if they want to keep ringing up and offering £30 more every time up to £12-15mil which we'd consider a serious offer, we won't bother. They effectively told them the price and I think after probably the 4-5th bid from Pool/Villa, they were just saying put up or shutup, which is fair enough. They've got every right to tell them at what price range they'd be willing to deal in, apparently Blackpool have lost 6 in their last 7, I wouldn't sell Adam's on the final day for anything below frankly, a ridiculous fee. What would Liverpool have done if CHelsea offered, 15mil, then 18mil, then 24mil, if Liverpool said "nothing below 40mil is even worth talking about" and Chelsea kept offering 2-3mil more at a time they'd have done the same thing.

I think everyone on earth could see Liverpool/Utd/Spurs/anyone who stumped up 12-14million with a few days to go would have had his signature in hours, I can't fault Blackpool for making that pretty much clear then sticking to their guns.

as for Inter, yup, heard the first half was bad, quick check suggests one defender pulled off at half time. Lucio and a not really first team CB were playing, I didn't see it but Lucio at his age generally needs someone really fast alongside him. He lost a lot of pace in the past 18 months, and Maicon needs 2 decent CB's because, frankly, he's just rubbish. I'd never really seen Maicon be good, ever, people just remember any fullbacks who score from the champs league(or embarassingly, purely from how good they are in FM). He can be good going forwards but thats about it.

THing is everyones talking about Neville and the amount of people that do remember how effective he was defensively AND offensively, while never being the fastest, or trickiest. Thats how a right back should be, defense first, not relying on pace but knowing the game, reading the game, and a few fouls when needed, and him and Beckham pace wise were rubbish compared to say a right wing of Lennon/Hutton, yet they were the most effective partnership in the league for years. Good positioning, reading, passing, control and crossing, no real pace, no real tricks, just the basics done perfectly.

Seems rafa is trying to stir things. Making the rounds today, he is saying that he rejected a £70mil bid for torres in may and giving hints that he would love to come back.

He might like the thought of coming back, but that's as likely as Scotland winning the next world cup !

The student riots wouldn't have a look compared to the scenes that would happen at Anfield if the board said they were giving Rafa the job in the summer over Kenny.

New owners = another bank balance he can blow on multiple mediocre signings.

He's had his chance.

And what exactly has Kenny done so far to deserve a long-term deal? Beaten Stoke, Fulham and Wolves?

Whoops de do, crack that Champagne.

Ask that at the end of the season. Can't judge that now considering how little time he's been in the job.

At least he has them playing better than they were under Woy. The players actually look interested in kicking the ball around for a change.

Meireles under Woy - 16 games / 0 goals

Meireles under Kenny - 5 games / 3 goals

Who mentioned Hodgson?

My point was exactly the one you're making: How can you judge Dalglish after only a few games. You're the one saying he deserves the job over Benitez already.

I mentioned him ?

The team seemed have improved under Dalglish since he took over.

I never said Kenny deserved the job over Rafa ?

I said that the fans would never take Rafa back over Dalglish & that he's had his shot in the hotseat.

At this moment in time I wouldnt want Rafa back, down the road is a different matter and who knows what the situation will be in 10 years time. Right now though I think Dalglish is the right man at the right time in the right place. The difference he has made can be see from game to game, not talking about results, I'm talking about the style of play and the players demeanour, the results have been a bonus. On top of that the general atmosphere pervading Anfield since he took over shows he is the right man at the right time.

How long that will remain the case is an entirely different question, but as it stands this moment, Dalglish is right.

How is he stirring? Torres of 18 months ago was far more impressive than the one since then. He's still a great player but when his attitude is off he's at most half the player. £50m has been a great figure for him considering that and the injuries but at the peak of his time at Liverpool you would have people paying even more crazy money - see Ronaldo at Utd, not that I'm comparing the two players.

As for Benitez wanting to come back to Liverpool, that's about as surprising as waking up in your own bed.
