January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Arsenal would need to buy another LB. Gibbs is far to injury prone, he literally gets injured every time he plays football atm

Liverpool’s hopes of signing Rennes right-back Rod Fanni have been given a boost with the news that a proposed move to Marseille looks likely to fall through.

Fanni is one of the best right-backs in the French top division and has forced his way into the French national team over the past couple of years, making five appearances for them so far.

The attacking-minded defender has been watched closely by Liverpool of late, with Roy Hodgson travelling to France to watch him play against Auxerre last month. With Hodgson having had a public disagreement with Glen Johnson recently, speculation increased over Fanni's arrival at Liverpool.

However, Marseille have also been linked with Fanni for some time and indicated a few days ago that they expected to tie up a deal for the 29-year-old.

Now, the French champions have revealed that they have been unable to push through a deal for Fanni, leaving the door open for Liverpool.

Marseille chairman Jean-Claude Dassier told RMC, "Today we can only be pessimistic,

"Fanni's agent is being irrational and it is doubtful a deal will now be done.

"I can't see any way it could be completed, except if the player decides to manage himself in a reasonable way."

I can see him fitting in really well. :D

Dzeko has apparently written to our board asking for us to buy him lol
Good player and we need someone who can head the ball. No more than 25m though
Iniesta also being rumoured lol. How can a 'reporter' possibly type them words?

Would also raise the question of who else could play at LB?
Please take Wayne Bridge? :( :p

Benzema can **** off - yet another over rated French player. Would also raise the question of who else could play at LB?

Wouldn't mind Mertesaker though, fantastic player.

YOu could have early this season said, we'll he's never had a real chance at, well Real, but since Higuian's been injured he's played loads, had a run in the team got gifted a few goals and still looks absolutely rubbish. So screw that, Mertesaker is pretty damn good though, but ultimately again, or rubbishness in defence is coming mostly from fullbacks and midfield. 2 CB's can't do anything alone against 2 strikers and multiple runs from midfield that are completely ignored. Koscielny and Squillaci haven't looked fantastic, the later much less mistake prone, but with the defence around them most CB's would look poor.

Gibbs isn't ready in a million years, has he gone 3 games this season without getting injured, and to be honest, he still looks incredibly light weight and is quite easily pushed off the ball, potential winger for the future but left back I don't think he has it in him, frankly first team in the premier league/english leagues I don't think his body is up to it, he needs a league with less tackling.

At this point every transfer window seems like a joke, Wenger is just loading us up with the wrong people with the wrong contracts and saddling us with players who are just wasting us money. I have entirely no faith Wenger will bring in the right people for a single position.

Arshavin, quality, I said at the time, thats all well and good but a single DM for a lot less cash would have been infinately more useful.

AS for Vela, he's quality with no game time, out of position and still looks better than a good portion of our squad when he comes on. Frimpong, meh, preseason for one game he looked good, against a bunch of nobodys, the next game it was clear who he was learning his DM role from, and looked woeful for the next several games, also small and a chip on his shoulder and a want to foul everyone, Song mk 2 isn't going to improve the team at all.

Screw CB's, we need a right back a DM, two wingers, thats BY FAR our biggest priority, a keeper and another CB isn't going to do a thing while we waste our strikers on the wings, play a horrible formation, and give the CB's exactly no cover.

IF we ever sort out the other positions our CB's will seem dramatically improved anyway, at which point we might find Verm/Squillaci actually good enough.

I wouldnt take a move for Hazard seriously, once its known the club are willing to sell him anything Arsenal offer will be blown out of the water by at least seven or eight other clubs.
