January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Knowing mike ashley he probably wouldnt think twice about selling Carroll.

Be a shame if that happened, its about time we had a player that's worth talking about, especially as it's almost too good to be true, local lad and number 9 etc etc

You've had joey barton for ages havn't you? ;)

To be honest, the chap seems to have cleaned up his act a lot, fair play to him. Hopefully you wont have to sell Carroll.

I cannot stand Joey Barton as a person, but as a footballer he's very good. If the rumours are true about him, he's the type of player Fulham need, but cannot see us going for him purely because of how he is off the field (and sometimes on). Still rumours lingering of Fulham after Ireland, Keane, O'Hara and Santa Cruz though.

Barton can become super religious and he will still get stick.

Yeh he has had a shocking past, but he seems to be getting on with football recently and the few little things that have happened on the pitch are just examples of him not ever getting away with anything, he will always get hounded.

But yeh he is a decent player for us

'Little things' and 'getting on with football'?

How many other players have punched another player as blatantly as Barton did just the other month?

I agree that Barton will always get hounded because of his past, regardless of whether he changes or not but he clearly hasn't changed. The guy is still a thug and should be behind bars.

What when he violently attacked Pedersen?

Hardly anything to fall over for, in fact thats what I mean, it was barely a punch and it was blown up to something stupid.

Punching another player, seemingly for brushing past him, is hardly a small thing and shows he hasn't changed 1 bit. He's a thug.

If Barton doesn't want to be in the press for the wrong reasons then he's got to stop doing stupid things like hitting other players or making gestures likes he did vs Liverpool.

I agree with that, whatever he does, even if it isn't as bad as it probably gets made out in the papers and tv.. he will always get hounded for the rest of his career.

It is hard for anyone in sport to keep their cool all the time, it's just his off field past is now part of his on field life.

I did think that punch incident was all a bit naff, yeh he shouldnt of done it but that is just part of being competitive in a game. It's just a shame he has that past, could have probably been a better player but I suppose he is doing a job for us.

But getting back to mike ashley I won't be surprised if he sells players more than buys, I couldnt believe they got rid of hughton... Just waiting for the stadium to be renamed next, sports direct 70% off stand and the cheese and onion pasty stand... After we were becoming respectable again it all went crackers.

Apparently Denilson has 'refused to rule out a move away'.

That would just be super. Apparently Wolfsburg have offered £12m, which is strange because I'd have offered them that to take him away. Great news, now we just need a massive bid for Diaby and Clichy. :p

LOL typical isnt it but then he probably knows that once he goes there, shows how utterly inept he is he will then be sold off to another lower team where he wont get paid as well as he does at Arsenal.

Hearing rumours that Bender boy wants to go Inter as obviously hes not getting any playing time now that Chamakh and RVP are playing and fit. Guess the worlds next best striker doesnt like sitting on the bench:p....i say sell him and get as much as we can.

BUT its not going to happen as Wenger has said hes not looking to buy in the Jan window...or should i say hes not looking to buy any world class players. Great isnt it??...that our manager has no ambition to make us into world beaters.

The biggest problem is that in order to have a chance at least in turning just a few youngsters into world class players is that you need those that have it, in the squad already. We seem to sell off or release our experience.

The thing is once Bentdner has a run in the side he isn't that bad. He's not that great either. He has to be kept simply because Chamakh's rubbish now and RvP will no doubt be injured again. Perhaps it's time we handed a start to JET in a 442, not that will ever happen though...

Linked with Hulk today....
Hulk+Sulk upfront would be a great combination should Tevez leave. From the games i have seen he seems to be a perfect fit for the prem. Only problem is he is from Brazil, now we don't have a lot of luck with Brazilians but i think Hulk might be a bit different.

I'd like to see Diaby, Denilson and Almunia sold on in the next transfer window. Almunia is now 3rd choice keeper, Denilson is just pure trash and I don't even see where he fits into the team, Diaby has the natural ability but seems to just go through massive periods of not giving a crap. There's others too, Clichy has not exactly been amazing, he's too error prone to really be considered an excellent left back and we should have tried to keep that greedy pleb from moving to Chelski. Our whole defence needs a shake up, with Vermaelen injured for God knows how long we need to make another quality signing, we could even keep it Belgian and go for Verthongen, I'm sure when Vermaelen is back and fit they would make an excellent pairing at the back. Koscielny is okay but still young and makes silly errors too often, Djourou is only just back from a long spell out and needs a proper run in the team before I can really say much about him, Squillaci looks okay for a backup but I wouldn't want him to start every week.

I think our midfield is okay but we could do with another right sided player, I prefer Nasri in the middle and Rosicky on the left so he can cut inside with his right peg. Walcott hasn't been very impressive since returning from another typical Arsenal injury but apart from that I think our midfield is okay as long as we can keep Fabregas in the summer, and if we can't then we need to at least use the transfer money to bolster other areas of the squad. We still don't have someone who can get 25-30 goals a season and although at the moment we are fortunate enough to have a team who can score a lot of goals without having a prolific forward I still think we need one. van Persie could be that guy if he wasn't so injury prone and I'm starting to come around to the idea of cashing in on him while he still has value.

Still with all that said and done we are still in the mix for the league title and a few domestic cups, I don't see us progressing much further in the Champions League this season but that may not necessarily be a bad thing.

Kos is actually two months older than Vermaelen. He's just an average player, with a strong hint of Senderos about him.

That's surprising I thought Vermaelen was a few years older than Koscielny. While they're still both young, especially for defenders I would say that Koscielny should be seen as no more than a back up and I'd still want a CB to come in. I think for a lot of people Koscielny was thought to be Vermaelen mark 2 but it just hasn't worked out that way and he's given us a string of disappointing and frustrating performances. If we can only strengthen one area in January I'd want it to be the back four but it's just obvious that Wenger doesn't see it as a problem.

That's the trouble - when you have a great squad cheapo bargains are always a worthy investment because we can afford to quickly get rid of the ones who don't turn out and keep the few that do. He still seems to be sticking to it when the squad isn't that good.

Still, well, as said fourth and a Carling Cup and we're sorted this season.

Christian Nerlinger was at the City - Everton game. He's Bayern's sporting director, looking at getting their hands on Baines apparently.

Would be very suprised if Barca don't solve a deal for Alves, he's a very important player for them.
