Not at all tbh, market cap really is just one measure - I wouldn't exactly say Apple is a bigger company that say General Motors, you are looking at about 75,000 employees vs 202,000 employees for a start, even though Apple is 'worth' 10 times more at $425 billion vs c. $40 billion by your measure.

If a company is worth 1.827 billion, it's worth more than a company worth 257 million..and that's about it.

Cant believe Daniele de Rossi will be available on a free transfer in the summer (currently available for pre-contract talks). Cant see him being United bound as I'm sure his age/wage demands will rule us out but will be a great pickup for someone (most likely City)
I thought he signed a new contract? hence why we didn't get him this window on a small fee.

He must be signing a new contract, Roma aren't surely going to let him go for a free just to get another 6 months out of him.

I'm sure they're counting on his loyalty but that's a big risk specially seeing as at this stage of his career this would be undoubtedly be his last big pay day

Oh and for the record no he hasn't signed anything

Big risk like you say. Would be a great upgrade from NDJ/Barry and well anyone in utds midfield :p

We have made a signing today though all 6ft 8 of him. Costel Pantilimon, Signed on a permanent deal. 3.5m.

It's not up to Roma, its up to him, end of the day if he went in this transfer window for a cut price of 5mil, that's 5mil less he'll get. In the summer, he can basically demand a higher wage due to being a "free" transfer and get all the money for himself.

if he was going to sign for Roma(unless they come in with a late massive offer) he would have done so and been making more money the whole time.

Free transfer is worth FAR more to a player than having a fee paid at any time. Almost every free transfer player (of any quality) ends up on silly wages instead of a transfer fee.

Think Campbell, RVP is on 100k a week today, after a decade of wage increases and being at the club long term, Campbell got around that figure for waiting and joining on a free rather than us paying a transfer fee.

Just read that Valencia has sacked his agent because all he wants is to stay at United for the rest of his career.... I guess when you know what and you're not money driven what do you need to pay an agent for!!

Class player

Wish Utd had got him a season or two ago - but you are right, at 26/27 SAF will never sign him , brilliant box to box cm

Havent a clue what his wage demands would be, not as astronomic as Sneijder's were rumoured to be surely?

Really impressed with Valencia releasing his agent (on friendly terms if the article I read was correct) , really hope he can keep up his recent excellent form

That's good. I like Valencia. He's one our most consistent players and recently he has been absolutely incredible.

I did like it when he cruised past that Stoke player... then Berbatov skewed it wide :(

A company is only worth what somebody will pay for it though, not what Forbes say it's worth.

Exactly, I believe Forbes valued Liverpool FC at, or close to 1 billion prior to us being sold? Which is why Hicks was being such a *** about the price and apparently wanting to sue for 600 mill..

i can't find a solid source. i can't see it being £11m? but i can't see it being ££m either. tummy's figure is more probable.

Considering past transfers, I would imagine there is probably an element of truth in all these figures. £3m downpayment, installments making it up to a total of £7-8m with performance related payments on top, meaning the deal could come to a total of £11m? :D

Tevez has kicked off about City refusing to accept offers from other clubs and allow him to leave his nightmare. Thought he was bigger than City and now he's paying the price. Long may the suffering continue :D

I guess some context might be needed.... he ran Stoke ragged all night and come the end that's how easily he ended up beating them. He's been in amazing form as of late, I think it's now 9 assists & 2 goals in his last 9 games

I think he took a bung to make Valencia look good there. See the way he doesnt even try to tackle valebncia, despite valencia not using ANY trickery whatsoever, just kicking it and running.

Notice how it takes the GIF equivilent of 3 seconds for the defender to even turn around once he has stranded himself, with what id call, barely even a schoolby tackle.

Valencia is playing himself into form that i cannot deny. But then we already know that Barcelona>Stoke and that beating stoke should be routine, at home anyway. the question is, how does valencia handle himself against high quality opposition?

His level of contribution against

Wolves
QPR
Fulham
Wigan

cannot be questioned, but this should be a minimum expectation really!

Or it was 85 mins plus into a match where Valencia has run him ragged, he's probably tired and defeat is already assured. He was caught off balance and due to the timing was lethargic in his response.
