January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

He absolutely won't be leaving the club for Utd. This is Pepe we're talking about, he's a hero.

I can however see him going to Barca. Like previous posts, his form has dipped in recent seasons and I can see us bringing in a cheaper option.

What are they paying them though?

Tiote came in on 18k a week then we doubled that after his first season

I believe Cabaye was on 16k at lille and we doubled his wage so around the 40k mark

There was a club interview which is rare saying that all Newcastle signings will be coming in on average wages but if they preform they will get quick raises or moves to bigger clubs as long as the transfer is right.

It's the way Newcastle are selling themselves.

Trying to buy players which are ready to take their next step up in their career.

Tiote and Cabaye have even said they want to stay at Newcastle for a few years and prove themselves then make the move to top teams.

They will also take a risk on a youngish player who maybe has a few problems or heading the wrong direction to try and get them back on track.

Hatem is a fine exampled of this.

Other sources including Sky have picked up on the Wanyama story now, even though SAF was there for a funeral and not purely for scouting purposes:

Sky Sports understands that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson made a personal check on Celtic's Victor Wanyama, and is now weighing up a bid for the midfielder.

Wanyama has been one of the stars of the season and has played a huge part in Celtic's progression beyond the Champions League group stages.

The Scottish champions have been trying to tie him down to a new deal but, with no agreement on the horizon, a host of England's top clubs have been tracking his progress.

Now, after receiving glowing reports from his scouts, including his brother Martin - his chief scout - Ferguson took the chance to watch him in action against Dundee United and Wanyama impressed by scoring in a 4-0 win.

Now United are believed to be one of a number of clubs who could yet make a late swoop for Wanyama, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool all believed to be keeping close tabs on him although it is understood a move for the Celtic ace would need to be made by the weekend.

However, Sky Sports understands that, because Wanyama is Kenyan, his work permit, which is more than likely to be granted, would need to go to appeal as his country are ranked outside the world's top 70, which is a criteria set in the UK.

So, in order to finalise a deal for Wanyama, a bid would need to be made prior to next Thursday's deadline and most likely by the weekend to give the process enough time to be completed.

Just the sort of player we need ( Wanyama). I havent seen him play but i understand he is a sort of Essien/Toure like midfield powerhouse.

We really need someone like that to help the defense.

Come on you know Nick only gives his seal of approval to players from exotic countries like Brazil (hence his love of Anderson), if you're Japanese or play in the Scottish league you are by definition a crap footballer. This all coming from the mind that once said Charles N'Zogbia was better than Cleverley :o

From earlier today;

Fulham have been told by Manchester United that Danny Welbeck is not for sale this month.Summer move looks very likely for player #FFC #MUFC

Would think it must have been a loan enquiry, doubt we could afford the price it'd cost as well as his wages.

4 year (was a 1 year extension on the 3 years he already had, I believe):

I've been telling my friends who side with United that Welback is below par for united, and he is pretty much frozen out. They keep on telling me he has a bright future there. Seems like I am right.

EDIT: M'Vila (Arsenal wanted him) has signed for Rubin Kazan for 12M.

Actually you couldn't be more wrong, not a chance Welbeck will be sold, not this month, nor in the summer
