January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

Crystal Palace deny deal struck for winger Wilfried Zaha to join Manchester United

Crystal Palace have denied suggestions a deal has been struck for winger Wilfried Zaha to join Manchester United.

Newspaper reports suggested Sir Alex Ferguson held talks with the player in London on Sunday over a switch that could be worth up to £15million.

But Palace have told Sky Sports they have not given Zaha permission to talk with the Premier League side and no deal has yet been struck.

Arsenal and Tottenham have also been tracking the 20-year-old's progress, although United remain favourites to land him.

And Sky Bet have now suspended the market on Zaha's future after receiving a string of substantial bets for the young England international to make the move to Old Trafford.

Who contradicts themselves?

As for the rest of your rubbish. Players can leave under-contract, that's not an issue providing it's with their clubs consent. Players don't have the right to leave while they're under contract though and certainly don't have the right to not play until they're sold though. As Tim Payton says, Fabregas' actions put you in a terrible bargaining position ultimately ended up with you receiving a fee that I don't believe for one minute Wenger would have accepted had Fabregas behaved properly. And what does Tim Payton have do to with anything - you claimed that you've not seen any Arsenal supporter say the things I mentioned in my first post. I know it's hard given the volume of crap you come out with but at least keep up with your own posts.

Tim Payton is a mug.

Why can't we just buy someone really good and not someone who might have potential all the time.

We did it with Robin Van Persie and look how that has turned out....brilliantly

Like with Berbatov and Veron you mean?

van Persie was a one in a million deal, he seemingly wanted to stay in the PL and his contract situation meant we got him relatively cheap compared to what Falcao/Cavani will cost if they move. Even then there was no guarantee he would succeed with us.

Having said that, I'd rather have signed Sturridge than Zaha and that's saying something.

I feel personally as an Arsenal supporter that our team isn't that bad. Yet we go on giving poor performances sometimes. Arsenal are very up and down. Every transfer window is the same and we never seem to be able to make any significant deals.
I would like to see us keep Cazorla, Wilshere, Chamberlain, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Koscielny, possibly Artetta.

I'm not sure about Giroud. He's not reliable enough but is good physically and a powerful threat. Podolski I think is a good player but hasn't had a chance to shine yet.

I want Gervinho and Arshavin to go though. Don't rate them. Also don't rate Ramsey personally but hey. I do have faith in Wenger still though.

Ian Dennis at the BBC is saying Manchester United are close to agreeing a fee for Zaha.

I hope it's not £15m, that's probably (fair enough I haven't seen him play) too much.

Behaved properly? he could have forced his way out 2-3 years before, he didn't he felt he owed it to Arsenal to sign a contract, give Wenger a last chance and get Arsenal the fee when he leaves.

Did Fabregas only wanting to go to Barca make us weak in negotiating, sure, and, again he could have left for nothing had he wanted to be an arse about it.

Its quite simple, I see Fabregas leaving as giving us 3 more years than almost anyone else as good as him should have bothered with, got 30mil more than the club deserved, put up with Wenger's BS longer than most, and left without a bad thing to say. Nasri, was an upstart, wasn't particularly good, was lazy, and I didn't care that he left, he's since seemingly been a bit of a **** but I don't really blame him as most Arsenal fans were ****'s to him anyway.

Henry, Vieira, Fabregas and RVP were all worth more than they left for, were all made promises by Wenger "stay one more year, we'll improve, invest and compete for something", then left for less than they were worth.

Henry was widely rumoured to want out, Wenger begged him to stay another year, signed a 4 year contract, had a terrible season(actually great when fit), and left. However, he left for a fee we wouldn't have got had he not signed a new contract, he only had a year left, and we had offers of 30mil, he could have gone on a free, but stayed another year, signed a contract and we got 20mil instead of nothing.

Henry also ONLY wanted to go to Barcelona(despite not having played their like Cesc had), he had a reduced fee, and no one made up bs stories about his behaviour for hits on their websites.

:D

Edit: I see Benitez has had his say on DM's posts too.

I don't post stats, the person who came in and said Theo has the best chance conversion and ran was posting a stat and nothing else. I would have posted that and asked, what are they deeming a chance, and why would you expect a striker who shoots and frequently scores from many different places like RVP, to a player who takes 90% of his shots in 1 on 1's have similar chance conversion.

Maybe I would also have compared their history, like RVP had a 1 in 5.8 shots to goal ratio last year, and Walcott was a 1 in 9.x, and that depending on who you play and when the stats can change quite a bit in one weekend, or that RVP has scored double what Walcott has, by way of being a better player and being more capable of scoring in different situations. Walcott is so limited that he takes.

But again, I guess I'm posting stats, with no other discussion, no interpretation, stat and run, thats me.... obviously.

It also sounds like Liverpool are on the verge of signing Philippe Coutinho from Inter.

Could turn out to be a cracking player if he develops well.

(@GuillemBalague

Liverpool and Coutinho are hopeful it will happen. The player is very excited about move! Fee close to be agreed but not yet. Hope it happens)

They rejected a fee a few days ago.

The articles a load of crap but I'm so tired of hearing about De Gea. Every minor mistake he makes there's speculation in the paper and pundits berating him.

It's a joke because if he didn't make the save from Dempsey's one on one or Bale's deflected shot but did punch the ball clear in ET, the net result would be the same but he wouldn't come in for stick. No keeper is perfect but papers get the most mileage out of De Gea, presumably because a) he's young and b) not English.

Vidic made the biggest contribution to Spurs' equaliser by getting in the way of De Gea and not clearing the ball and Evra followed the ball rather than Lennon. If either of them did their jobs, they wouldn't have scored. Argh.
