Cabaye can play equally well deep or further forward, for us he normally sits middle of a 3 behind the striker. Plays deep for France too.

Depends if the player wants to leave and if he really can go for 3mil by buying out his contract in summer, if so 3mil in summer or 14mil now. If true they've bid that much it probably does indicate that they believe he can buy out his contract in summer(others have suggested there may be a way for Newcastle to fight it).

Newcastle could end up with quite a bit more though if other clubs got involved in a bit of a bidding war, but again it goes back to the player. If he wants to go to PSG then he can turn down other clubs and they'd again be potentially back to the 14mil now, 3mil in summer situation.

Not as easy as that. Yes he can buy out his contract but Any club he signs for has to pay newcastle the market value. Desided by a group of independents

PSG have made (or are expected make) an offer of the same amount to Lazio for Hernanes. Hopefully they'll crack first.

Cabaye can't throw his toys out of the pram again if the move does not happen. As he was warned and dropped by deschamps last time.

Fabio and Zaha are reported to finally having their medicals today at Cardiff, happy for both of them to hopefullly grt some decent playing time.

Interestingly, Fabio is a permanent deal.

I have to say I wouldn't mind Cabaye for £15m~, I do like him, and would definitely play him deeper in midfield.

He almost certainly can't buy out his contract for £3m or there abouts:

Remember one club cant loan two players to the same club so Fabio ( if he ended up at Cardiff with Zaha) HAD to be bought ( not that it was for that much money I suspect lol) - from what I heard Cardiff was always the likely destination for both

What max figure would you put on Cabaye just out of Interest? I just think he will end up being a better quality Anderson but for more money ( as PSG are also interested)

Well, if we can get him before the end of January, and his wages/signing fees aren't overly big, I wouldn't be upset if we got him for £20m. He's pretty versatile and has a bit of a nasty edge to him, which isn't a bad thing (within reason, of course). Carrick at his best can offer some sort of attacking threat but he usually just recycles possession in the middle of the pitch, rarely doing anything especially great when he pushes forward. Cabaye can do the same and offer a threat from distance and more intricate passing. I'm not sure how well he'd work alongside Carrick though. But I can't see Moyes going for him, for some reason. I expect Moyes will be prepared to spend £30m+ on someone who is like Cabaye but better, so that might be preferable.

If this £30m player (Cavalho?) is a lot younger then I say go for it.

I just dont see Cabaye being worth 20+ for 2 or maybe 3 years. If he goes for around 15m ( which I cant see happening) then so be it, but Utd rarely get reasonably priced players in lol

Carvalho wouldn't cost that, his release clause is €45m but we'd get him for probably half that if what people are saying is true. I think £30m on him would be a bit risky too. He's basically the player Fellaini is meant to be, a big guy who can shield the defence and drive forward where possible.

I was thinking something more like £30-35m on Kroos if he's able to play effectively in central midfield. Vidal would be ideal, he can do it all. :(

If Cabaye goes for less than £25m I'll eat my proverbial hat. Mike Ashley is a businessman. He might be a bit tight on the old purse strings when it comes to buying players, but we can count on him to hold out for big money when it comes to selling our prize assets.

Would have to be, can't have more than one loan from a club in the prem league, two in total domestically, pretty much limitless loans possible from clubs in the rest of europe though.

I wonder if Utd just want rid of Fabio, or think that having Fabio/Zaha play together is not a bad idea and they have some kind of buy back situation where they can get him back basically for free if they want to just to get around the loan rules.

I hate to say it, given the season we've had so far, but if Liverpool do not strengthen in this remaining transfer window time, then I cannot see us finishing in the top 4. Other teams are starting to find their gears now and we have dropped a little off the pace (now needing to win 2 matches that the teams above us lose, in order to move up just 1 place), but I do think that there is a psychological impact on a squad if nobody is signed. I think players look at other teams strengthening with purchases, look at their team signing nobody and I do think that has a psychological effect on them. Sadly I think we've left any purchases too late now, and I honestly think theres a very good chance now that we will end up signing nobody of note.

Fabio's contract would be up in the summer anyway, so Fabio and Zaha playing together is irrelevant

Kroos would be good but Im not sure he will arrive before the summer, and even with Mata Im not sure our midfield will be good enough ( esp with Carrick meant to be out until March)....for the rest of this season to get 4th

According to the BBC Moyes has said that he's not expecting to sign any more players in Jan and is talking as though he's focusing on next season now.

That's fair enough and is pretty realistic but it is a bit painful to read when you're used to the tenacity of the great SAF :(

Even the solid defence came from nowhere? IMO he fluked it and proof is that after the invicibles nothing.

Or could be that the teams spent 100's of millions each year after, where as Arsenal sold one key player each year. But I doubt that has anything to do with it.

Money doesn't buy you success though, just look at Chelski, City and Utd...oh maybe I got that wrong...:p
