January Transfer Window 2013/2014 Season Rumours/Signings/KonoplyankOFF:(

According to the BBC Moyes has said that he's not expecting to sign any more players in Jan and is talking as though he's focusing on next season now.

That's fair enough and is pretty realistic but it is a bit painful to read when you're used to the tenacity of the great SAF :(

"I don't think we will have any more [new signings] in January - I'm still working on it and looking to do so.

Don't see how that's painful reading, they are working on stuff but I guess that he wouldn't want to get hopes up after the summer fiasco. Fergie used to deny any transfers all the time then sign a few.

Moyes is just being honest (which won't please everyone). The club likely have a list of players they want if they are available, and are attempting to negotiate a deal whenever possible. As those players are likely pretty good, it makes things more complicated.

He also said:
"Hopefully it will be the first of some new signings who will arrive more likely in the summertime."

I guess you're right though. Fingers crossed! I wasn't really aware of how SAF played the transfer market (was merely talking about his tenacity in general) as this is really the first transfer window that I've followed pretty closely.

A lot of my comments in this thread might seem a bit odd but I've only properly got into football recently (last couple of seasons and this season in particular), in the past I'd just watch a match if I saw it on TV or at the pub and not really follow the team much. At least I can't be called a glory supporter, I suppose :p

I hate to say it, given the season we've had so far, but if Liverpool do not strengthen in this remaining transfer window time, then I cannot see us finishing in the top 4. Other teams are starting to find their gears now and we have dropped a little off the pace (now needing to win 2 matches that the teams above us lose, in order to move up just 1 place), but I do think that there is a psychological impact on a squad if nobody is signed. I think players look at other teams strengthening with purchases, look at their team signing nobody and I do think that has a psychological effect on them. Sadly I think we've left any purchases too late now, and I honestly think theres a very good chance now that we will end up signing nobody of note.

I agree as our sqaud stands I'd be very surprised if we get 4th we have gone off boil but signs were showing we would. Injuries haven't helped but can't use it as an excuse. Still time windows can be insane so I hope we pull something off but if it's just a usual youth hopefully player for future it's no use to us

They're a gentleman's agreement between Spanish clubs, and I think the players have to pay it themselves... or something.

They're a legal requirement in Spanish law. They can only be legally enforced if the player himself pays the club (and no, the buying club can't simply give him the money as he'll have to pay income tax on it), however La Liga clubs have a gentleman's agreement between them that if another La Liga club wants the player, he can have him for the amount in his contract + all the taxes.

That said, football in Spain is very political and few presidents want to be seen to be selling their players (in particular their better ones) and often use the figure in the clause as an excuse to sell if another club bids, and of course if they're happy to sell at that price. Soldado's a perfect example of this.

Draxler apparently pushing for a move to Arsenal. Must be tempting for the lad when he sees the team top of the league and the chance of lining up with his idols, PM, Ozil and Podolski.

....Fabio will 100% be leaving United in the summer, if not before. This may not be news to anyone, so there we go.

Boom, ITK! :p

According to that report it's another attacking midfielder ? Really we have countinho and Alberto who can play that role. I'm glad it's some one but it's wrong position and yet another prospect type player. We have enoug of them all ready

No, supposedly he's a DM/CM. Someone even mentions it in the comments there.
