He had one great season with Twente where he tore up the Dutch league - but then again, so did Dirk Kuyt.

Rumours are that it's a loan deal with an option to buy, right?

Winning all the time...being able to buy the best players...not having to sell your own...ambitious owners...

How tedious :p ;)

Bit of a surprise that Cabaye is on his way out after Kinnear said a few weeks ago that no Newcastle player is leaving. And for £20mill??, what a steal for PSG...decent player and will be a shame that we wont see him playing in the PL anymore.

If i was a Newcastle fan id be pretty narked off with this, doing well in the league and they go and sell their best player:p.

But aren't Newcastle showing a great ability to be able to continue to do this, evolve and continue to finish roughly were they would anyway?

No one ever likes to see the best players leave but then clubs like them and us can rarely afford to hold onto them or offer them 'CL' football they all crave.

maybe he thought he was selling a kebab

:D

It's JFK mate, easier just to ignore anything he comes out with.

It's becoming more clear with time that JFK is only there as a mate for Cashley and has no idea what is going on and is just ignored for any real decision :p

I'm really hacked off but sadly used to it, I expect some 500 line DM post to counter my next sentence, but all we are is a cash generator for Cashley. He isn't making a lot but he is making money as long as we stay up and that is all he wants. Free advertising, making money and mug fans who put up with it. He's got a sweet deal, I understand wanting to not to lose money but he's too far the other way.

How much does he take from the club? I genuinely do not know, I can understand the advertising but is he not paying anything for that, not even as a tax write off for the sports company?

I find it hard to believe he wouldn't pay a thing for advertising as just a way to shift money around and avoid tax?

It was confirmed at a fans forum by the club they pay nothing for advertising. In addition all his advertising stops others being able to advertise (there are rumours he wants it just sports direct but beyond the anecdotal there is no factual evidence of this)

The farce of it all is summarised by our commercial income. 13.8mill lol. Even Norwich earn 14mill! To give some comparison Spurs warn around 58mill p/a Liverpool around 64mil.

He's sucking the money from the club whilst at the same time using the club to generate further income, the more you read on it the more of a disgrace it becomes.

He saved them from the brink of financial meltdown, got them some 100mil out of debt, has ploughed around 300mil into the club, but the club made a minimal profit(a few million) one season..... and he's taking cash out of the club.

Apparently the fans want him to sink many more of his own millions into purchases and buys well beyond what he has so they can compete higher up the league... I mean, the risk of another bad season, going down and ending up 100mil in debt again doesn't matter. THe club SHOULD be run financially irresponsibly because the fans want it to be so.

You only need to look at some of the posts "we used to play Barca in the CL...."

really how often were Newcastle in the CL, and how did they get there, and what was the result of how they got there. Answer, massive overspending, result, disaster, saviour..... Mike Ashley. But that guy who spent 300mil + on saving the club and has maybe "taken" 15mil of free advertising(which isn't taking, it's just not giving more)... Ashley is really destroying that club with all that net 280mil + he's ploughed into them.

To give a comparison on commercial, non consistent european teams have crap sponsorship... yet another case of a fan comparing Newcastle to established year on year european sides.

God what's the point in a loan with the option to buy?

Same case with Remy. Come to us score all round him then **** off to a better club... Or it just makes the player more expensive.

We where ment to have an iron tight buyout close in remy Loan but he has the last say.....

Hopefully Siem joins his brother in the summer.

DM for every decent post you counter this with complete guff.

Though that is as much a revelation as the fact that Cashley is screwing us.

How can the club stand on its own feet (as Cashley wants) if he is stripping the club of all chance of commercial revenue. Estimates (and that's all they can be) put us around 38-40mill if we had full access to all commercial streams as opposed to just Wonga. If Cashley wants to alma me money then fine, make money through the commercial revenue. Instead he is (in effect) assets stripping and keeping the money from sales/tv/gate to make his money and using other revenue streams to boost his financial empire.

He is double bubbling and making money both ends, he wants it both ways and how is that right?

It's not the clubs fault he didn't follow due diligence but now we are the ones being punished and until he leaves we are stuck.

Yea you should be able to force him to join you permanently. I'm sure he will perform really well.

A loan-to-buy deal makes sense. De Jong is player our scouts obviously think has potential (as we tried to sign him a while ago) but who hasn't done well at his new club. That makes him a bit of a gamble. If we can loan him first we can see if he can be the player he was at Twente, or if he just can't make the step up from the Dutch league. It reduces the risk on our side.

It's not the same as Remy. He had already showed at QPR that he could adapt to life in the Premier League and we should have bought him outright rather than waiting for him to increase his transfer value while on loan here.
