Looks like its DraxOFF now, doesnt seem to be any sort of movement on getting him so it might wait till summer which shouldnt be a problem even with his buyout clause kicking in over the summer. Seeing as we will have the new puma money kicking in, should give us plenty of money to spend i hope.

Still hopeful that Wenger has something up his sleeve, not much time left and was really hoping we could have got a striker/forward in on a loan or something.

Luuk Dejong as arrived in Newcastle.
Lyon have said they will sell Grenier to Newcastle if the offer is decent

I didn't think there was any interest charged on Ashley's loan?

Aye there is. It's low interest.

There was a great article on it somewhere comparing it to what other clubs are paying.

Everton are getting hammered on interest. I also think Spurs have very high interest loans also

25th from last results

I was unaware of this.
I would've thought that Newcastle would be in 100th or similar.
Didn't Newcastle recently get relegated to the Championship?
If so, 25th for such a lowly club is damn impressive and shows what a strong following they have and also how good their finances are run.

3-4 years back, far more recently than Newcastle.

CL that is anyway, haven't they qualified for the Europa for a fair few seasons?

Don't worry.
Everton got a good manager now and stand a good chance to qualify for the CL this year.

Moyes was holding them back, it seems. ;)

They were talking about this on The Guardian Football Weekly and apparently we have sent people to Germany to negotiate with Schalke but Bayern are also interested in him. I imagine Schalke would rather Draxler be sold to us than Munich but I'm not really hopeful of us signing him before Friday.

I think a large part of it is the stadium and a fan base that was built up thanks to a very successful (but sadly trophiless) end to the nineties when we were the Entertainers and most people's second team. This helped the club a lot and it wasn't a vast amount of time ago we were top 10 in the earners. We have sunk since the mid 2000s and even faster since Ashley came in.

I think it was more like 6/7 years ago and they failed to qualify.

No more than Newcastle in the last 14 years. Pointless argument really, I just found it strange that DM thinks Everton consistently qualify for Europe.

It's because DM has his tongue somewhere on Cashleys anatomy where a tongue should not venture. Pure fantasy, but I wish we could switch owners. It's easy to say its all good when someone else is getting boned and you are sitting pretty with good owners.

Bar DM I think there would be murderous Gunners on the streets if it happened :p

Interesting if true Kill, seeing as Kroos isnt willing to sign a contract extension with Bayern at the moment. He wants double his wages now and Bayern are basically telling him to go do one even though he is one of their best players at the moment. So perhaps Bayern are preparing for him to go and getting Draxler in as a replacement or something.

If Schalke want to sell him to us then they best get something sorted out quick lol, i still have a feeling that if we do sign him before friday then it maybe only to get him now rather than the summer when his buyout clause kicks in. Well i hope so either way...

Imagine the battle royale if Kroos came on the market! Amazing player though why he won't stay at Munich is strange as even if he doesn't earn what he wants he could still make daft money.

Yep would be a free for all for his services and i would hope Arsenal would be in there trying to snatch him up. Would be amazing to see him in the EPL but wouldnt be surprised if Real, Barca or even PSG went for him as well.

Sorry but point out where I said Newcastle had worse income than Everton or Spurs, or anyone else? we were talking about commercial value, nothing more or less. Newcastle have a HUGE stadium compared to Everton and Spurs... but don't mention that. Argue a point I didn't make which doesn't address commercial revenue... the ONLY thing we were discussing, and call me names because you are too stupid to understand what you're talking about.

Likewise I did NOT say Everton/Spurs commercial revenue was only down to european qualification, but being almost assured premier league status, sponsors don't want to sign a 15mil a year shirt deal with a team that may be in the championship next year. No club, NONE that gets promoted is an assured prem team after 3 seasons.

When was the last time Everton were relegated, when was the last time Newcastle finished top 4, when was the last time they finished top 7 consistently. It's a combination of these factors.

Newcastle have higher gate receipts than Everton, and similar tv money, less commercial due to their position.

Again I'll ask a simple question, do you think Cashley/Lambias went out of their way to refuse higher profit deals and take the Wonga lower offer? Or did they take the best deal they could get at the time?

Once again it's Newcastle fans claiming loads is being taken out of the club, despite it being a marginal and not profitable sector of advertising, with the most profitable commercial income, shirt/kit, both being under relatively normal value deals for teams in their position. You're comparing Newcastle, promotion, good season, relegation scrap, currently okay season, to Everton/Spurs........ while another Newcastle fan accuses me of presuming all Newcastle fans think they deserve to be fighting for european places.....

Once again you've failed to talk about the hundreds of millions put into the club by cashley, the marginal profits and come up with some BS 40mil number based on a fantasy comparison.

English tv money means pretty much everyone in the EPL massively outranks(except the top 4) their big 5 league counterparts.

Spurs tv money vs say Villarreal/Sociedad, it's a joke. But again, we were not talking about overall income, in which both tv money bumps everyone up, and Newcastles what, very close to 40% higher average attendance also bumps up their income.

Neither of which have any bearing on the ONLY thing we were talking about, commercial.

Should we talk about BS, no1newts claimed Liverpool had around 64mil commercial income, Spurs were on 58mil. Deloitte say LIverpool made near enough 100mil and Spurs made 44mil, which was up over 3mil on the year before.

Also why are we comparing Newcastle's european league exploits since 2000? You know which sponsors care about how well you were doing in 2000-2005... not a single one of them in the slightest.

But I do get it, don't like the argument in which you have zero answers, unadulterated hate for the owner, no way to logically talk about the 5-10mil in "free" advertising... that no one else would actually pay for, vs the coming up towards 300mil he's ploughed into the team to keep it afloat after taking on a massively in debt team.... change the argument. Pretend Newcastle should be making 40mil a year in commercial, at odds with the rest of the league or any team in a similar position, pretend you were talking about overall income the whole time and how Newcastle are in the top 20 in the league money wise....... and ignore that you're complaining about Newcastle's financial position while using the new argument that you are one of the strongest teams in europe financially... okay.

English teams bring in far more than their european equivalents(barring the top 6-7 teams), but they also pay out way way more in wages. Sociedad came 4th in la liga, and spent £40mil in total last year, meaning less than that just on wages. Everton have a wage bill north of 60mil.

Well not really as Newcastle were in Europe last year ;)

However Everton have been in the europa cup a lot more than Newcastle recently, have qualified for the qualification stage of the CL, but again this was only one of two major factors I said make up the commercial difference between european/non european teams, the safety of them being in the prem is another major factor.
