One quote I read said Mata ducked out of training....depending on how you want to read that it could mean he trained today

Splitting hairs, and it doesnt really Mata anyway.....( Yes I know that was awful :D)

49 m euros / £40m seems to be the most common amount, although what the add ons will be and whether this amount includes them or not is another matter

Mata could become a legend at United and is just the sort of player we need.

Shame we wasted 28m on an overrated afro.

He said before, he doesn't rate him and has seen him quite a bit.

Hm not sure if he was serious or not. It would be like going back to 1999 and signing Batigol.

Personally I think his 78 goals in 97 full starts in serie A speak for themselves.

maybe it was his 38 goals in all comps last season or his 33 in each of the previous that blinkered my view.

just read his wiki history. The word talismanic springs to mind.

Plus the structure of the deal as in so much upfront, so much over X number of months. For example when we sold Jaap Stam, I don't think we got paid a penny until the first day of the 4th month after he left.

This talk that all the top clubs have this so called 'War Chest' is Laughable really. Say We did have this £200m that is being suggested. Not all of that is straight cash in the bank.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when they pull these deals together

Well £200m in cash in the summer may not be that unbelievable to be honest

Last set of financial results I seem to recall said there was nearly £100m in the bank at that point.1st year ( next season) of Chevy contract worth 50m or so a season ( dont know for sure but would expect it to be paid per season in advance on a new deal) plus whatever is won from CL and EPL placing ( again not exactlysure when these are paid, but over the summer seams reasonable) - either way the cash itself has been earnt by that point.

And Utd dont have any issues with FFP so they could spend the lot

Totally agree, would love to see how far / into what details the two clubs but also the players contract goes

What's all this 3rd party bid nonsense?
Is it like getting a mate to ask a bird if she fancies you before asking her out just in case she says no?

I'm not too clued up on things so bear with me....where would Mata fit into the United team? He's an AMF? Where does that leave Kagawa? Even with Mata in the team we'd have the likes of Cleverly passing away from him so I'm not sure how much of an impact Mata will have.

Surely we need better wingers first? And some better defenders. Especially if we are going to get that top 4 spot this season.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit - this article is on the same wavelength as my thoughts http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...anchester-Uniteds-more-pressing-concerns.html

He can essentially play anywhere across the front (aside from out and out striker). It's also a case of lifting the team and showing Moyes can attract the very best, something people have questioned up to now.

I think we're in for some tactical changes as our wingers are utter trash. Januzaj/Mata/Rooney behind RvP, somehow. It can be done for sure.

Gutted if he goes tbh, why would we want to strengthen their team. They didn't wanna give us Rooney as rivals etc.

Hehehe.
I dont think Mourinho fears the combination of Moyes + Mata.
Perhaps he thinks that giving Man Utd Mata, will not actually strengthen Man Utd appreciably.

Or Mourinho is thinking that if he can £35 for Mata, he can invest that money in another player?
