Whilst it would be disappointing losing him another plus for Chelsea is that you now have 4mil to try and get a striker and losing Mata can (to an extent) be absorbed in the amount of attacking mid players you have.
At this moment in time I don't think we really need a player like him and his rumoured price tag is quite clearly based on potential more than current ability. Be interesting to see if he does actually arrive in the summer, Wenger might look to switch him from a wide player to a forward similar to how Henry and van Persie developed at Arsenal. I'd be happy if we just signed a forward on loan if there's anybody available, Berbatov has that style where he looks like he was practically born to play for Arsenal so I'm not sure why we haven't made an approach for him even if it was just a short term contract."I am of the opinion he should also be with us next season," Tonnies told BILD.
"It would be my personal advice. He can play his best football without any big pressure and at our club he would have a clear mind. He is very much in good hands playing for Schalke 04. My general advice for everyone would be to stop making Julian mad."

Any news on Huntelaar? Thought he would be making some headlines. 30 years old now but could still be a big signing for say Arsenal... even with Giroud there.
You mean the reports from Egypt that claimed the deal was done, he was flying to Liverpool yesterday for his medical today? The ones that turned out to be wrong? :/Just go back 24 hours for a start and the papers were reporting we were meeting their 10 million asking price.
It's been 10-12 since the start of the window, we've been ****ing around at the 8 million mark for 3 weeks. Got anything that suggests it's more?
I also heard earlier from usually reliable people that we did agree a fee with Basel but then started to try and lower the price. £10mil to £8mil most likely. We do this all the time and lose so many targets.

From before the window even opened the reports (from the press rather than twitter) were that we were interested but not prepared to match Basel's asking price. Other than some article from Egypt that was at the very least premature, if not total crap, I'm not sure what's changed. Even when the Egyptian Mail and twitter claimed the deal was done, Ben Smith from the BBC tweeted to say that as far as he knew we still couldn't agree a deal with Basel.
