*January Transfer Window 2014/15 Season Rumours/Signings*

edit - I doubt Anderson got £30m~ in wages even over 7 years given that he never played consistently enough to get bonuses over a season etc (and he originally signed before Man Utd had mega money to pay out in wages, so he probably signed initialy for £35k/week

Initially (according to the Guardian) the combined cost of both Anderson and Nani was about £15m rising to potential of £35m (probably the case of Nani, but doubtful of Anderson I would have thought) http://www.theguardian.com/football/2007/may/31/newsstory.sport10

4 million a year since 2010, probably 'earnt' nigh a good 20million+ since he signed.

Anderson was the more rated of the 2 when they signed from memory. There is a screen cap of the deal announced from porto where they confirmed 30 million euros. Its on redcafe somwhere if you look enough, and other places. Horrendous peice of business really.

If you say so - but unlikely to be paying that much that long ago for a youngster however highly rated.

(edit - given that £4m /year is approx. £80k/week that wage might be accurate IF he was starting regularly and contributing to titles etc, as he hasn't been doing that for a good four or 5 years its highly unlikely he would have earnt anything like £20m+)

Like anything from redcafe, not exactly ironclad

The exchange rate was different back then so it depends how the fees were structured as to the sterling value. Whatever it was it was too much.

He signed a new contract in 2010, a quick google shows figures between 60 and 80k a week. You only have to go back to last season and when he was touted back to Porto their president came out and stated he will have to drop to 2mill a year (40k a week) for them to even think of going for him.

Who cares, your club can afford it, what he was paid is irrelevant, everyone deals with flops

Exactly, don't see the issue really other than maybe they should have hoofed him out ages ago. As you say it's not like they are a club struggling for money. Everyone has cack buys. We sold our last one to United for 27m. I think it was a charity deal for Children in Need.

and today's headlines are mentioning £1.4m to tear up the last 6 months - or £2.8m a year

2ndly those are headline grabbing numbers which probably include bonuses etc which Anderson wouldn't have been paid (and this also works for today's headlines too, ie given a little more than the contract is actually worth to leave early as an incentive).

Porto's numbers are probably maximum possible too so the above headlines from today work out also

Anderson is possibly one of the most revoltingly overweight swine to have masqueraded as a footballer, ever.

Yes, you can usually see abs on fat dudes. He's short and stocky, but I see pec's and abs, not moobs and a beer belly.

DM, you clearly haven't seen the love handles Arshavin was sporting in his last season, it puts even Andre Santos to shame. He's not short and stocky, he's chubby, compare his physique when he just joined to when he left, before he joined us he was much more slender. Short and stocky is someone like Shaqiri. :p
