January Transfer Window 2017/18

If we were playing Arsenal tomorrow (forgetting this transfer saga), Sanchez is the only player I'd be concerned about. Even at his worst he's their main threat. He won't be the last player to get sick of his current club and want to leave.

Not sure if anyone else heard Darren Fletcher and Jermaine Jenas on Radio 5 Live, actually talking sense. The people claiming Sanchez is the biggest mercenary in football and acting like he's going to some random club in China need to take a step back and think about what they're saying.

I'd rather go to China than Utd.

And you have to remember, this is the internet and we only deal in extremes and the fact that this is such a high profile deal only makes that worse. Are Utd spending crazy money to get Sanchez? Yes but this isn't the first or last time we'll see a club spend way ott to sign a player. Has money proved to be the pivotal factor in Sanchez's decision? Most likely but again, he's not the first or the last.

And Jenas talks ****, it's not the first or last time he will either.

Sure :p

And yes I'm not saying Jenas is spot on but he's far from the worst pundit, and what he was saying in this case was fair. The article Neil Ashton wrote (who I know is a waste of space) was ridiculous.

Van Dijk was hardly a model pro, yet people aren't expecting him to make waves at Liverpool, because he probably won't. The same way Sanchez won't cause trouble at Man Utd. You can see why he's sick of Arsenal, the Arsenal fans are all sick of their own club too.

People actually involved in football (even at rivals) seem much less bothered about this than the rival fans. I suppose that's not a surprise.

Yup spot on and Sanchez was our only good player
Lol yeh last year he was immense. This yr he has been dog **** on and off the field. Look at his attitude towards the team in general.

I’m glad he’s gone because it seems like our team today is more in sync than it was with Sanchez in it.

Craig Norwood‏ @CraigNorwood
Alexis Sánchez transfer to Manchester United edging ever closer. Club hopeful to pencil in medical at Carrington in the next 48-hours.

Closest thing to an official announcement as you'll get.

Sanchez little toe has more ability then any of our players. His a huge asset for us

Sanchez out and Mikhy/Aubamayang in would be sensational for Arsenal!!

Come on Wenger make it happen!

Sanchez is good. But he doesn't want to play for us. He's not done much for about a year and the team has been effected by it.

Good riddance.

It will be very interesting to see how Aubameyang does, I rate him but he's the sort of player I could see struggling, not exactly sure why.

Right then do all of us a favour and go support Utd will you??

Huge asset for us? Was that when he was throwing his toys out of the pram?? Sulking like the little boy that he was?? Like I said we got the best out of him and since then he hasn’t been anywhere as good as he used to be.

I’m more interested in seeing how Sanchez does at Utd especially when you lot play park the bus football.
I have a feeling he will struggle at Utd, the way he likes to play and the way Mourinho likes to play are completely 2 different kettle of fish.
It would have been better for him if we had sold him to City in the summer. He suits Pep and his way of playing.

I think all this Pep stuff has been primarily peddled by the media. I'm sure Pep wanted to sign him and Sanchez wanted to go to Man City as an upgrade on Arsenal, but their time at Barca was nothing like it's made out to be.

I suspect he'll have a more free role up top for us, it's a waste of money having him defending all the time. If he can play No.10 properly, he'll slot in there perfectly.

So Arsenal will have two good players instead of one? And I still doubt PEA will come to Arsenal.

Further confirmation from wenger

The Frenchman said: "January has been difficult for us, destabilising. We have had big players concerned with moving away which causes uncertainty.

"The deal happens only one way, if the other way happens as well, that's why it takes longer as well because it has to be co-ordinated.

"I expect it to happen. In the next 48 hours it will be decided."

Also mention of Sanchez driving up north instead of playing today.

Would be funny if he took a wrong turn and ended up at City, who then turn around and say **** it you are here already, let’s sign him up just to nark Utd and send Mourinho into a rage:p

Meh I just wish the transfer would be finalised, getting quite long winded and the sooner it’s done the better.

Not sure if Auba is coming or not. And to be honest not that bothered if he comes or not. He seems to be another Sanchez in the making as in being a disruptive influence. Caused enough issues at Dortmund as it is, but then Dortmund have themselves to blame as they promised to sell him to Real and didn’t.
