January Transfer Window 2017/18

The way Mkhitaryan moves with the ball is a little Pires like.

I think he is going to fit in just fine at Arsenal and wont destabilize the team now that the diva has gone.

I hope it is a great move for Miki although it just means another fairly weak midfielder who can get 'bullied' so to speak. I do look forward to seeing how he plays in free flowing football because at the start of the season his touch was superb.

Is Sanchez really going to get the blame for Arsenal's woes? Arsenal have been like this for the past decade, permanently destabilised.

And you'll possibly have Aubameyang soon, who has caused Dortmund a lot of trouble, far more than Sanchez did for Arsenal.

You have a point. With the changes at the club with a new sporting director and chief scout I hope things will change for the better.

But since the Bayern games in the Champions League there has been a big cloud hanging over Arsenal and the team hasn't been right. Mostly because Sanchez threw his toys out the pram.

Arsenal won't get anywhere signing just Mkhitaryan and Auba. They need defenders and defensive midfielders who have some fight in them, they are mentally fragile and poor defensively.

I agree. It's crazy to think that it was Wenger who first introduced the Viera role to the league and yet since Viera we haven't replaced him at all.

Yeah I'm not convinced that Viera was the first box to box destroyer. While my knowledge of football from when I was very young isn't as comprehensive as it is now I'm pretty sure keane and others did that as well. Viera was a great no doubt but it was nothing new.

So carrying on with the message that Sanchez left on his Instagram account. Seems like he had a pop at some former arsenal players, something along the lines that they didn’t know what was really going on in the dressing room. And that he always gave his all when in training and on the pitch. That I don’t doubt for a second tbh, he always gave his all but seems like the rest of our squad couldn’t care less.
Did he cause disruption in the squad?? Of course he did with his antics and I suppose a few players got narked off with him.

Also alluded to something about Henry helping him make up his mind about leaving Arsenal.

Not sure how true that is but if it is then Henry isn’t going to be very well liked anymore :/.

Anyhow as I said am glad the whole Sanchez saga is done and dusted now. It’s a shame that yet again we lose our best player to Utd.

But I am looking forward to seeing how Mikhi gets on though. Not holding my breath though as from what I have seen, he’s been pretty inconsistent like majority of our players this season. But hopefully with us, he may discover his form.

Here is his statement:

I want to say thanks to the Technical Staff, to the medical team and all teammates with whom I shared many nice things for the club and especially those people who do not see themselves on the covers, but without them nothing would be possible, which are there to prepare food for us and take care of us day by day, those who keep our shoes clean and the grass in the best conditions. Many thanks to you for helping us to improve every day. Thank you very much .

There are people (former club players) who have spoken with no knowledge of what happens inside the club and cause damage. I must say I always gave 100%, until the last day, when I asked to the Mister to be in the team, because I wanted to be a contribution.

I remember today, a conversation I had with Henry, a historic Arsenal player, who changed club for the same reason and today is my turn.

Thanks for everything Gunners! All we achieved and the good moments that I gave to the club, I want to dedicate it to the fans, they are the most important. Thanks for every time you sing Alexis Sanchez Baby

Its going to suck seeing Sanchez play for United, but I understand the move and for the most part I wish him well.

Having said that, I do think he was disruptive force in the dressing room, he wasn't well liked, he was a bit of a diva, and he was careless with the ball. I'm not laying all our woes at his feet, far from it, the guy played his heart out for us and pulled us through games on multiple occasions.

Our problems lie with the manager and a fragile midfield, I see a lot of blame levelled at our back line but they get absolutely no protection from the midfield. Ramsey ***** off all over the pitch, Xhaka doesn't track runners, we are lacking a true DM. Coquellin was the closest thing we had to one and despite his efforts he wasn't up to the standard we needed. We need a true midfield enforcer... but we won't get one, because how many of them exist in world football these days and would be interested in signing for us?

So if we can't get what we truly need, we might as well pick up Aubameyang, its not going to win us titles, its not going to take us to the next level, but if we have Lacazettle Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang and Ozil (forward line of LMAÖ anybody?) as a front 4 with Jack and Xhaka behind me just might get our identity back and start playing some expansive football again. I think thats the best that we can hope for under Wenger at this point, and I'll take it for now.

I thought Xhaka was meant to be a midfield enforcer?

That was what I thought we were getting too, but he is more a deep lying playmaker.

He doesn't have the required pace or defensive insticts and he tackles worse than Paul Scholes.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, I think he could be a very good player just not in the role he is being deployed at Arsenal.

I also think he would be suited more to a different league, he doesn't have the legs for the fast paced style of the premier league.

That is of course my uninformed opinion, I'm no expert!

wenger doesn't utilise him properly hes not a defensive mid!

Hes got the most accurate passing statistic in the league very very rarely makes a bad pass

Bryan Robson perhaps?

I see from the publicify photos that Mikhi is already trying to grow a beard. Is that why Sanchez was so disliked in the dressing room - no facial hair?
