January Transfer Window

Fulham tabled £3.5m for Marlon King.

Lets see what happens there.

Also newsflash says Sunderland made a £4.5m for Stephen Hunt .

Fulham splashing the cash again on lower league players :/

Haven't they learnt already??
Thats what i thought.

However King does actually look good.

I hope they spend a bit overseas and from the premiership.

That Leyrielton looks promising.

They need a solid centre back, which i dont think Boumsong is the right person :|.

They need a tall goalscorer upfront (King?), a solid centre back (Hyypia..but 34 years younger? :p), a centre mid, similar player to anderson, can play the ball well. And Niemi needs a replacement, im getting sick of his mistakes.

King is good but so was Baird, Healy, Bouzza, Kamara etc at lower league clubs. Not necesserily premiership class!

True.

But he has been in the premiership once before iirc?

Ah well, i hope he steps up.

Whether £3.5m will be accepted though.

Baird is being kept out of the team by a 19 year old :p.

King was injured for all of last season though wasn't he? He came back at the end and scored two in two mind :)

He was at Gillingham, Notts Forest and Leeds before Watford so can't think of him ever really playing in the Prem? He's injury prone too!

Thought he played under Watford, guess im wrong then!

He looks like a good goalscorer, and will be our only striker who stays by the goal.

They need a left wing now too.

Booza is injured, again. Lee Crook..dunno what hes doing.

King did play for Watford (still does) but as Andy said he only played a few games in the premiership.

He started last season with them, got injured about 3 games into the season and only returned for a few games near the end of the season.

He's a decent player but if Fulham realistically want to progress as a club they should be chasing better players IMO.

I agree, what he could be doing is signing players to keep them up, and backup for next season.

As he'll be thinking that if Fulham stay up, he can attract new players (Roy Hodgson) to the club. RAther than trying to get it all now.

Alves to Boro rumors seem to be gathering quite a lot of steam

Some comformation from the club would be good tho

Stoke have supposedly had a bid accepted for Stelios at Bolton. Doubt he'd come to us tbh, but if he did I'd imagine him being a player who'll tear up the Championship

He's past his best thats for sure, his attitude doesn't seem the best anymore neither. Funny that he was linked with Liverpool last season

I dont think Huntelaar would mind sitting on the bench that much neither :)

WOLVES boss Mick McCarthy has signed Plymouth striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

The ex-Manchester United trainee, 21, rejected an offer to become the highest-paid player in Argyle history after McCarthy’s £1.5million bid triggered a release clause in the 13-goal hitman’s contract.

Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock said: “He wouldn’t even discuss a new deal with us.”

Looks like the sissoko loan to Juve is only a matter of time. Good bit of business that I reckon as if he starts to recover his form again....we can have him back. And if he doesn't then it's adios momo.

He wouldnt have to sit on the bench that much - with the amount of games we have coming up in quick succession, two out of three strikers required each game to start (I think we can all forget about the usefulness of Saha)

40+ starts until the end of the season for pure striking positions (given that Rooney and Tevez can play in either position, any new striker could potentially start 15 and have a handful of subs also

Fulham apparantly have a large budget this transfer window.

New boss Roy Hodgson insists the Cottagers chief is prepared to dip into his personal fortune to recruit the reinforcements needed to survive in the Premier League.

And Hodgson claims "persuasive" Harrods owner Al Fayed will pay what it takes to keep Fulham out of the Championship.

"The chairman is very supportive. He wants the club to stay in the Premiership," he said.

"He's spent a lot of money already and one can't be expected to spend limitless sums of money on a football club, even if they are wealthy.

"But Mr Al Fayed has spent the money because of his love of the club and he will do so again.

"We're trying to be reasonably realistic in setting our targets for the transfer window. I'm sure that if we succeed in being able to attract those targets, the chairman won't stand in the way of getting them.

"He will not be saying 'it's a good idea to sign that player, but I'm not making the funds available'. The chairman is anxious that we do as much as we can to put things right.

"We don't have a limitation in that we can only spend a certain amount of money or sign a certain number of players. It's up to our judgement."

Hodgson has created profiles of the players he wants and having identified the right targets, managing director David McNally takes over the negotiations.

Nationality is not an issue for Hodgson - his predecessor Lawrie Sanchez insisted on signing British players or overseas imports with experience of English football - but height will be a telling factor.

"The imbalance in the team comes from the lack of size. A lot of our players are of a similar size and not very big, so stature will be a factor for us," he said.

"But if we are to buy new players they must be quality who will make us a better team, not just make us bigger."

Al Fayed convinced Hodgson to take the Fulham job and the 60-year-old former Inter Milan coach hopes he will be equally successful in luring the players he wants to Craven Cottage.

"Mr Al Fayed is a very persuasive man. He's not an easy man to turn down when he's decided he wants something," he said.

"I don't regret my decision to come here and if I identified a player who had some doubts about joining Fulham I'd be working hard to persuade him this is a great place to be.

"We're working hard to become a better team and we have a bright future, as long as we can stay in the Premiership."

Good news on their part.

Lets hope part of that isnt £8m on King.
