January Transfer Window

Why has he? It wouldn't be a Berbatov or Tevez situation anyway. Berbatov would come in for Saha most probably.

We already have Tevez for 2 years on Loan, so even if we were to have Berbatov now we'd still have 3 strikers.
Tevez works harder and is a better playmaker than Berbatov. He's also more consistent and less likely to have a massive strop. Also, Rooney and Tevez work brilliantly together.

Apaarently Taylor from Portsmouth has been spotted at the Sunderland training complex along with a black French centre half of unknown name.

Both sound like an improvement, I don't know a lot about Taylor other than he's scored some decent long range goals

Which is my point. Is Berbatov gonna be happy being 3rd choice and sat on the bench? We play 4-4-2 so one of our 3 strikers would have to be on the bench, can you drop Rooney or Tevez?

The same 'black center half' that was there in the summer and didn't get signed? :p.
I'd like Matty Taylor as backup left-back/right back and wings at Man Utd. Hell, shove him in at RB now instead of Wesley Brown.

Tevez has probably been our 2nd best performer this season. Not bad for someone who had no pre-season at all.

Torres: 9 Goals | 2 Assists
Tevez: 7 Goals | 4 Assists

Nothing really between them and what I'd expect, ones a total front man and the other's a hardworking support act.

I haven't really seen all that much of Tevez tbh but he's quality and he does try hard. Worth that kind of money? Possibly imho.

I'd rather have Berbatov than Rooney though anyday of the week.

no but torres is a lot more spectacular and more dynamic.

Tevez has scored 7 but haw many has he missed from like 6 yards out?

Berbatov is different class, if he can get his act together he can become the worlds best at leading the line and bringing other players into the game. His first touch and technique are quite simply ridiculous. I just hope Spurs hold onto him, because if we do the only way is up for the club.

Or play Rooney on the left of midfield (which SAF seems to be doing quite a lot even this season) - I dont think it will happen, Im just saying how they could all fit in

I think yesterday proves we need someone - and the suggestion about Kitson above would actually be worth a punt, unfortunately I cant see it happening

I dont have confidence in Saha being a "match" winner in any way, yes he scored a couple against Sunderland, but for me it was other people's movement that created the goals/penalty and not really Saha actually doing very much

Probably the same amount that Torres has missed from that range

Nice use of stats nokkon ;)

In all competitions:
Torres - 15 goals from 19 starts
Tevez - 9 goals in 20 starts

imo Tevez has got loads to do to justify paying over £20m for him, the only things going for him ahead of Berbatov is his attitude and age.

Nobody knows if its 20m its just paper talk. We'll buy him anyway so I don't know why its even being discussed.

Why'd you pay so much for a player when there are better players possibly available at a similar price?

And according to nokkon the papers are saying £30m

I don't rate Tevez that highly anyway.

He works hard and has decent technical ability, but he's not a goal machine and won't ever be imo.

Because Tevez has played for us and fits into our system? And anyway, if we were to buy Berbatov (which we won't, not in January anyway), we would still buy Tevez. We can afford to, we're not Liverpool ;)

The papers also say we're giving Tottenham Brown, Saha, VdS, Scholes, Rooney and Ronaldo in exchange for Berbatov. We've been buying Defoe for the past 4 seasons, and Torres was a dead cert to be signed for the three season prior to him joining Liverpool.

The system where you leave it to Ronaldo?;) Im sure there are cheaper players who could fit in that system.

And i agree with nokkon about not being able to keep all of Tevez, Rooney and Berbatov happy if that was the case.

I'm sure whoever we signed would realise they're not guarenteed first team football EVERY week, so if they did sign you'd expect them to be happy, else they wouldn't have come in the first place.
