Not surprising, Ferrari has been AWESOME off the grid, ridiculously awesome and couple that with underqualifying in a huge number of races that makes them one fastest off the grid with the most places to make up. Mclaren are pretty fast off the grid also but are almost always ahead of the Ferraris so Massa can make up 3-4 spots a race, Button/Hamilton basically have no where to go most races.
Surprised Perez has gotten so far ahead of Kobe though, Kobe was outqualifying him on average earlier this season so maybe that has a lot to do with it.
That is ultimately one of the reasons Alonso is doing so well, the car is a dog in qualifying pace, but I would say Ferrari and Sauber seem to be some of the most efficient cars on the grid, so they seem to be lighter on full fuel and do FAR better on starts than anyone else can.
I'd take an Alonso title win over Vettel, easily, really can't stand him and for me the RBR car has simple cheated its way to two titles, still want to see a Hamilton win this week though. Ferrari for me is probably the best race car this year, though in the past 4 races Mclaren have probably edged ahead. Qualifying is one thing, race pace is another, Ferrari have the best car on a Sunday, Mclaren by far the best car on a Saturday.
Vettel's an odd one, that car has been up and down all year, the engine mappings clearly hurt it more than any other car, some tracks some weeks the car is a class above everything else, his lead at valencia before the safety car was silly, and he appeared to be cruising. Other races they aren't even slightly competitive. When the car is there Vettel cruises to finishes, when its there neither Vettel nor Webber really seem to do what Hamilton/Alonso can do with a poorly performing car.
