Japanese Grand Prix 2012, Suzuka - Race 15/20

my opinion and thoughts are not drivel and if you dont agree with them then please dont respond with silly comments.
please just refrain from posting a reply if its not going to be a constructive one and this section of the forum will be a lot better off for it.

my post was f1 related and completely in line with what this thread is for.
duke and the 3 posters (not counting "mr men") that followed him add nothing to the thread and are whats more likely to get a topic closed because its derailed or turns into a childish argument

Well said :)

I don't think suggesting Lewis might benefit from him being in a happier place can be called drivel, we seen last year how his performances can drop if his head is not right, now he is where he wants to be he might well gain from such a weight of his mind. :)

Hamilton or Webber or Jenson win with Alonso in top three and Vettel out side top 5

I will be ok this out come

Assuming the Mclaren is still quick around here, then Hamilton should easily be on the podium. Not sure on JB with the penalty. Red Bull have always been good here but maybe not so much this year without the EBD. I can't see Webber in the top 6 here.

It is kind of a Lotus track, but that has been said every race so far :p

Mclaren are running some sort of active ride system if you can call it that, i dont know how it works but its similar to what Lotus had banned at the beginning of the year, also i was told they have a development for it for Japan which makes it even more efficient, apparently the FIA are looking into it but they believe by the time the FIA rule it illegal the benefit will already been had

James Allan has an interesting table on his blog explaining how many positions drivers have won/lost this season at the start of the race:

Gained:

+26 Massa ***** *******
+24 Glock
+22 Kovalainen, Senna* *****
+21 Alonso
+20 Perez***
+14 Vergne
+13 Raikkonen
+12 Pic
+9 Karthikeyan
+5 Maldonado****, Kobayashi****, De la Rosa ****
+4 Hamilton, Schumacher* ******, Hulkenberg
+3 Di Resta *****, Button
+1 Petrov***** *******, Vettel

Held position:

Lost:

-3 Grosjean** **** *****, Webber
-5 Rosberg
-13 Ricciardo*
!

Not surprising, Ferrari has been AWESOME off the grid, ridiculously awesome and couple that with underqualifying in a huge number of races that makes them one fastest off the grid with the most places to make up. Mclaren are pretty fast off the grid also but are almost always ahead of the Ferraris so Massa can make up 3-4 spots a race, Button/Hamilton basically have no where to go most races.

Surprised Perez has gotten so far ahead of Kobe though, Kobe was outqualifying him on average earlier this season so maybe that has a lot to do with it.

That is ultimately one of the reasons Alonso is doing so well, the car is a dog in qualifying pace, but I would say Ferrari and Sauber seem to be some of the most efficient cars on the grid, so they seem to be lighter on full fuel and do FAR better on starts than anyone else can.

I'd take an Alonso title win over Vettel, easily, really can't stand him and for me the RBR car has simple cheated its way to two titles, still want to see a Hamilton win this week though. Ferrari for me is probably the best race car this year, though in the past 4 races Mclaren have probably edged ahead. Qualifying is one thing, race pace is another, Ferrari have the best car on a Sunday, Mclaren by far the best car on a Saturday.

Vettel's an odd one, that car has been up and down all year, the engine mappings clearly hurt it more than any other car, some tracks some weeks the car is a class above everything else, his lead at valencia before the safety car was silly, and he appeared to be cruising. Other races they aren't even slightly competitive. When the car is there Vettel cruises to finishes, when its there neither Vettel nor Webber really seem to do what Hamilton/Alonso can do with a poorly performing car.

Ride height system, I thought it was just a "tilting" wing?

Thats what my guy says, he called it active ride, must be something in the dampers, ill have to ask for more details, maybe its a combination with this twisting wing, allowing the car to remain neutral though all types of corners, it will be interesting to see how the car behaves in the heavy breaking phase into the chicane after 130R
