Japanese Grand Prix 2012, Suzuka - Race 15/20

The FIA has announced that DRS zone for the Japanese Grand Prix will be shorter for this year's race.

The ruling body has decided to shorten the zone by 20 meters compared to last year, when the detection point was 70 metres after Turn 15 and the activation point 30 metres after Turn 18.

For this year's event, however, the detection zone will be 50m before Turn 16 and the activation zone is at the Control Line after Turn 18.

In 2010, before DRS was introduced in F1, there were seven overtaking moves completed at Suzuka.

Last year, in contrast, there were 59 on-track changes of position.

my opinion and thoughts are not drivel and if you dont agree with them then please dont respond with silly comments.

I've always wondered how an opinion, can be wrong.
Surely opinions are subjective and not statements of fact.

And just because Person A disagrees with with Person B's opinion, it does not make Person B's opinion any less "correct" than Person A.

...and as I've read in someone's sig, if you don't like someone's opinion or post, then you can always put them on ignore. ;)

...Vettel won, I think people would feel a bit cheated that neither the best car or the best driver won.

Well, some may argue that if Vettel did win, 3 titles in 3 years, winning the title in 2012, in not the best car - that perhaps he is the current "best driver in F1".

He would be classified as an all time great at the age of 25.

How would you argue against it?

flexiwing, etc etc etc :D

(Im not saying its particularly accurate or fair but its certainly a potential basis for a discussion)

He might well win it this year but no way has he been the best driver so far, but people do tend to cling to titles as if it proves everything.

No-one said they were 'wrong'.

Suzuka preview on F1.com - http://www.formula1.com/news/features/2012/10/13862.html

Suzuka’s single DRS Zone is 20m shorter this year than in 2011. The detection point is 50m before Turn 16 and the activation zone starts at the start-finish line after Turn 18. In other circuit changes, the whole West Course (from Turn 7 until after the chicane) has been resurfaced, while new storm water drainage systems have been installed around the newly resurfaced section of track.

Driver changes for opening practice only will include Giedo van der Garde in for Heikki Kovalainen at Caterham, the Dutchman getting his first Friday outing since the Chinese round back in April.

The weather is expected to be settled, with a mixture of partial cloud and sunshine, and ambient temperatures of around 25 degrees throughout the weekend. Sunday’s race will run over 53 laps of the 5.807 kilometre (3.608 mile) circuit, or 307.471 kilometres (191.056 miles). It starts at 1500 hours local time, 0600 GMT.

Could be quite a green track with all that new tarmac.

Erm, I might be up for some of this action.
Is this wager still available?

Nah, I want deuse to come out of his shell and say something other than "Lewis/McLaren will win everything" and see if he REALLY thinks it or just says it blindly because he hasn't a clue. It's a challenge to him.

In fact, that's been up for a few days now, he can have 16/1 for making me wait. Offer stands until 10pm Thursday night.

It seems mclaren made Hamilton an offer to make him the highest paid driver on the grid. All bout the $$$ tho.

Don't understand mclaren. Even if this is true why say it before a gp? Don't they want thier 2 drivers to do well even if one is leaving the team? Theres still both chmpionships up for grabs sometimes i just don't get them.

the drivers dont seem to need to achieve much to gain a title aswell.

a couple of one off performances and people are branded XXXXX specialist

at one point didnt someone say hamilton was a DRS specialist? what does he do push the button better than everyone else  (seriously you press a button when you cross a line)

We don't want any more threads locked because of forum members trying to bait other members..ok

But could you show me where I posted "Lewis/McLaren will win everything" or gtfo :)

I'm not baiting anyone. You bluntly said "he will" win the title, so back yourself up by accepting the bet. Every time a race thread is started you post something along the lines of "Lewis will win" or "McLaren 1-2" etc, and it's just boring. Surely to god you don't believe they're always going to win? Can you post without any form of bias at all, or is that not your nature?

Also, was it really necessary to add the gtfo? Bit out of order.

In fact, from this very thread:

Thanks Duke ;)

I will be up for this.

1st Lewis
2nd Button
3 don't care

Singapore:
Thanks Duke ;)

Lewis for the win :)

You get my point.
