Unfortunately they'll be in the two slowest cars next year. I fear they'll end up going the way of Vandoorne; stellar junior careers and dumped in ignominy in a year or two's time.

Always a risk but Raikkonen/Alonso/Ricciardo/Leclerc all started in near back of the grid cars too.

Isn't that because of drivers like the beloved Alonso, Button and Raikkonen driving well into their 30's essentially locking out top drives (lol McLaren) from new drives coming up from F2/F3.

You then have other long term mid field drivers like Perez and Hulkenberg that are decent but are never going to get into a top team now.

So you're advocating term limits or retirement by a certain age?

I'm more concerned about the management types (eg Briatore, Red Bull) locking potential talent in to a career path years ahead.

Partly that, but also no progression. Russell has more of a chance being attached to Mercedes, as he could potentially go Williams > Force India > Mercedes, assuming he has the talent and Bottas' seat opens up in 2/3 years.

Norris is backed by McLaren so his only real hope is to get noticed by a team who have a clue WTF they're doing, as that seat is a dead end right now.

No, talk about fake news....

People were complaining new drivers can’t progress, there is no where for them to progress to. New talent is constantly waiting for the established drivers to move on....

To be honest F1 should up the heritage payment to Ferrari due to the pressure Ferrari are under making it almost twice as difficult for them to win the titles. At least Vettel keeps his dignity when he isn't getting the rub of the green i.e. mostly always since summer break. When things start going badly for Ham the rattle comes out of the pram instantly.

True, but the loss of teams from the grid, the lack of competition at the top, and the tendency of top teams to hang on to mediocre second drivers isn't helping.

Haha, fantastic.

Could do with 2 more teams being on that grid, but that is unlikely to happen without some form of effective cost cap / changes to prize money distribution.

We just don't want to have the same scenario that put the current back markers on the grid. We need more manufacturers. If Mercedes or Ferrari leave we effectively stand to lose 4 cars at least.

Would love to have seen Alonso in the car. Shame he left. Hopefully now Ferrari and the wider audience are starting to appreciate how overrated Vettel is.

Not a single part of this statement makes sense. Hopefully Ferrari don't also believe this nonsense or they will never progress.

Vettel keeping his dignity? nearly every collision he's caused over the past couple of seasons he's blamed on the other driver and lets not forget him ramming Hamilton under a safety car. At least when Hamilton throws his toys out of the pram he does it in a safe manner in front of a microphone.
