Jehovahs Witnesses

I have only been pestered once by Jehovah Witnesses... I was a young squaddie at the time and had just come back from a hunting trip with a few friends. They wandered up my driveway kindly asking what I was doing, to which I replied:

"Skinning Bambi... now **** off!"

They asked me what I did, I replied:

"I'm a soldier, I kill for a living. God? PAH!"

I even offered them inside for a beer or two, they quickly refused and then left promptly! I never did understand why...
 
Many years ago when i used to do my paper round there was notice on the front door. It read,

"Jehovas Witnesses are not welcome here. We have a big dog for any Jehovas Witness who knocks on the door."

From that day onward i thought the people living in that house must be really rough. But one day, i met them; they were very nice and during the winter they even offered to give me gloves when they saw i was wearing none.
 
Another JW story:

Many years ago, living in south london, almost every saturday we used to get our door knocked on by some JW wanting to talk about god. And my mother told me to never answer the door to anyone on a saturday morning, as this was the normal time for them to knock.

One saturday, the door was knocked, i answered without thought, and was confronted with 2 JWs. I was screwed. I tried to get out of the conversation but they rambled. In the end, they tied me up for 30-45mins. They even gave me a leaflet, told me to read it and said, "we will be back next week to discuss this leaflet." I was seriously worried.

The next week, on schedule they knocked, my sister answered and she "dealt" with them.

Anyway, a week later, i was expecting a package, so was waiting for the postman. I had had a late night on the Friday morning so was half asleep on the saturday, when the doorbell rang. I ran to door (half asleep, on autopilot, as it were). I was dissapointed that it was not the postie. And was even more dissapointed to be confronted by 2 people asking me what religeon i followed. After seeing what i was confronted with, without saying a word, I slammed the door as hard as possibe and went back to bed.

When i awoke, I could barely remember what had happened. But my mother filled me in and told me that i was very rude to whoever was at the door. It all came back to me.

That was the last time we were ever visited by JWs.
 
Door knock:
Open door:
JW: Hello, we are in the area talking to people about God. Can you spare us a few minutes ?"
Me: "Well I am a little busy at the moment, can you call back next week?"
JW: "Sorry, I'm going into hospital I'm having my rucksack removed."
Me: "ok, bye then"
 
A few eyares ago we had them knock on the door, my Dad beign my dad invited them in sat them down in the dinning room, made them coffee and started talkign to them. Four hours lster they left of their own free will. My Dad was more than pleasent to them, he listened to them and reasonaed with them, he tackled their issues from his perspective ( hes a christian) until they had no leg to stand on, as they were leaving he said your welcome to come by and chat again (he meant it in all seriousness) for some reason they havent come back.
 
The last one I remember coming to my front door was 9am on christmas morning when I was about 10 years old. My dad got really narky with them as they spent ages trying to talk to them when he wanted to come back and open presents. Me and my brother got narky as we weren't allowed to open our presents unless dad was there.

One had a chat with me on the train the other day and gave me the magazine, seemed a nice guy, hasn't change my mind about them though.

She gave me a book to read which pointed out that the Earth is only £7000 years old & that Dinosaurs cannot be millions of years old as generally perceived lol ! The bit that really bugs me about about religious sects like Joeys is when they go to such extremes as rather letting their child die than allow a blood transfusion, I know two families broken apart because one partner got sucked into the sect & the other wasn't interested.

It seems that J W's survived the the blitz during the war because they were always stood in doorways :p

Why don't you just try to tell the truth? We have NEVER claimed to know the age of the earth, never. Tell me the publication that came from. We admit the Bible gives no indication to an exact age of the earth/ universe etc therefore we have no reason not to believe it is billions of years old (something that scientists themselves cannot agree on as their estimates range from 4.5 to 13.5 b).

I should have read the first page... This was my exact thought....

There's a great joke here between the male anatomy and religion, however being a public forum, I won't type it....

If I cared enough about religion, or finding a new religion in general then I would go and find out myself, I don't need some guy waking me up out of bed in the morning to tell me about something that I may or may not believe in.

Next time they come around I'm tempted to tell them I worship Satan. See how it goes....

I did the "sorry I am not interested" thing. I told them I didn't believe in god, they asked what I did believe so I told them facts. After declining one of the lady's offer to come in my house so she could prove that god was real I wished them all the best, they done the same to me and they went happily on their way.

They're not nasty people. I just think some consider their approach to be a little rude/arrogant/smug.
