Joe Lycett - Qatar/Beckham debate

I wasn't being serious I thought that much was obvious, just to be clear so you don't miss it again I was mocking your pathetic question
I was also mocking as it's ridiculous to say someone's excluded when they clearly are not.

Doha is not like London.

It's like saying its non inclusive because hooligans can't go there to cause trouble...
Hooligans are more than welcome to go, if they respect local laws.

I will address this directly one time and then I'm done.

Hooligans are not welcome because by definition they break the law, that's what hooligans do otherwise they are just fans
LGBTQ+ are not welcome in Qatar because being themselves is illegal

Being a hooligan is a choice, your false equivalence is insulting.

Again, Doha isn't London.

LGBT are welcome like they have said time and time again.

free media, basic human rights,
You know that the Kafala system has ended in Qatar?

For these two points. Doha isn't London. Please understand that at least.
Their society is structured very differently to ours, if the people there want different they would do what people in Iran and China are doing, but they don't.

You're viewing things from your perspective and thinking they are inferior because they don't match your very narrow ideals.

Well if their society welcomes things that are illegal. much like you won't get done for speeding at 75 on the M1.
So first you equate being LGBTQ+ in Qatar with being a football hooligan and now with speeding on the M1...... this hole just gets deeper and deeper feel free to stop digging. Could you at least come up with an equivalence that doesn't involve a choice?

Letting people know you're LGBT is a choice no?

We were jokingly talking about the gay detector earlier in the thread, it doesn't exist.

So LGBTQ+ are not welcome as by your own admission they have to not let anyone know and if questioned deny that they are who they are, oh so very welcoming.

Substitute, Women, Black People or Muslims for LGBTQ+ in that sentence and then maybe just maybe you'll get just how ridiculous your position is.

Their country, their religion? I thought colonization was bad and yet here we are with certain people trying to 'colonise' countries with their western ideals.. :D

This is a joke right?
If the Kafala system is done away with, how about all the reports of slavery then and death?...7000 being ONLY for the stadiums.
Culture and discrimination are not the same thing, you don't get to wash over it saying "culture", Quatar is devoid of any "culture" as it built with pretty things by rich people.

Again, it just shows you're lack of exposure to other cultures.

When visiting another place you may have to make some adjustments to your behaviour, this is anywhere in the world. Doesn't mean you aren't welcome.

There you go again assumption assumption assumption, I have travelled all over the world and yes I have changed my behaviour to show respect in many of them, but and this is the big one who I am is not illegal in any country I have visited and I have never been required to deny who I am to be 'welcomed'. You are saying LGBTQ+ people are welcome in Qatar as long as for the duration of their stay they are not actually LGBTQ+ are happy to deny who they are etc etc and I'm saying that is the very definition of not welcome. Denying who you are is not an 'adjustment to your behaviour' Either you welcome someone as who they are or you are not really welcoming them at all.

Well I mean do you trust DW as a source for fact checking?

Qatar is devoid by culture you say? When was the last time you visited?

You aren't illegal, actions you may do are though. Much like LGBT, don't show it publically and you won't get in trouble.

I don't get it, do LGBT want to turn up and kiss on the street and openly display their signs of affection or something? Someone as well travelled as you surely must know that this is wholly indecent behaviour in some countries regardless of your sexual orientation.

Ahh the ole " you arnt there so cant comment" ...yea I dont need to be front line in Ukraine to know its " bad". How and when where you there?..as a Tourist or doing business, or sponsored travel, did you return meeting dignitaries and being "escorted" to show the country off, where you allowed to travel anywhere you liked?, what hotel and which company/ prince owned it?, as this is all the info we pour over before, during and returning, BEFORE we have to send them all images taken and wait for approval what ones could be used.
It in teh link from a source I have never heard of. Maybe read your own links.
