Nope. But like me, Bridge doesn't play for England :)

was he not considered for squads though at the time?

would it not have caused problems had he been second choice to cole?

you can't have him in the squad if he wants to beat the captain up, that is where it causes problems on the pitch.

...and yet he's still an idiot thug on the pitch. I didn't argue the impact on the result, I was kinda saying it matters not a bit that the result wasn't affected. It just shows what kind of person Rooney is and why he should never be anywhere near the armband.

he may be a thug on the pitch but he really is the only person that shows any kind of passion when he plays, the only other player you can actually rely on to be passionate and be consistent is ashley cole.

If we're basing it on what kind of person they are then Gerrard should be as far away from it as Rooney is, and Terry should never have been given it. Best just give it to Hart and have done with it.

You admit he's a thug, yet still want him to be a role model to countless kids?

*backs away slowly*

not at all, i've already explained that being a football captain should be nothing to do with being a role model, Bobby Moore was arrested for shop lifting but he was the best captain England have had. now in the way you lot are going on he should have been stripped of it because all the kids in the world would go on theiving sprees!

the press have drummed it in to everyone they should be a role model.

Best player != best captain.

now you're just being flippant :p

you should have put lols at the end of it for effect.

he is already, do you think he's a role model because he shags grannies and cheats on his wife?

or do you think he is a role model because of how he plays the game and because he is their best player?

so was Gerrard.

it's not whether they were guilty or not it's the bad press that goes with it, you're were stating that he's a thug and therefore shouldn't be England captain, has he ever done anything worse than what Beckham did?

Zidane is a perfect example, everyone immedietely forgot what a great player he was because he was sent off in the world cup final, oh no, hang on, no they didn't.

the best captain is the person that can inspire a performance on the pitch, Rooney and Gerrard single handedly do that for their clubs week in week out.

Needs to be an ever-present by talent, so has to be Hart imo

i agree Hart would be an excellent candidate but then you open up the whole, 'the captain needs to be an influence' argument.

you have to question how influential Hart would be stuck in goal, in my opinion captains are better in the middle of the park.

Yes, so he's a-ok, in that regard .

It very much is whether they are guilty or not. Well, more precisely, if they're found not guilty, or not ('cause, at the moment, the Terry case is still in limbo, for example).

you're calling Rooney a thug and is likely to lose his head and that's why he shouldn't be captain, Beckham got sent off in a QF and lost England the world cup in that case, it didn't do him any harm when he stepped up to be captain.

If Gerrard and Wilshere are available, I wouldn't be surprised if Parker wasn't in the side. Rightly or wrongly, Capello doesn't rate him.

If Wilshire's available it wont be Parker who struggles to get a game it'll be Gerrard. Not quite sure what makes you think Capello doesn't rate Parker he's been playing him ahead of Lampard

The fact that he didn't take Parker to the World Cup and even now, he's only playing him as others are unavailable. Also you'll find that Capello used Wilshere in a more defensive role for England.

It's no secret that Capello doesn't rate Parker as highly as some do but only time will tell if he picks him when he's got the likes of Gerrard and Wilshere available. And I'd be shocked if Gerrard doesn't play if he's available. Has he once not been picked when he's been available?

I dont think many rated Parker up until recently, I dont think you can say because Parker didn't go to the last world cup Capello doesn't rate him in fact has Parker ever gone to a major international tournament under any England boss?

Parker's very much flavour of the month and in good form for Spurs so I'd say he's the only CM that's a cert to start. Chances are Wilshire wont be fit so Gerrard may well play based on lack of numbers rather than anything. I dont think he'd get a game anymore with everyone fit.

Parker was flavour of the month before the WC but despite most thinking otherwise, Capello didn't take him. Parker's only found himself in the side since the problems to the likes of Wilshere and Gerrard.

I'm not saying he won't or shouldn't be selected but I think it's far from certain that he will. Gerrard on the other hand will be one of the first names on the team sheet if he's available, as he always has been under Capello.

I cant say that's my recollection of accounts, as far as I'm concerned Parker's only started getting real recognition since last season and his heroics for West Ham.

Ill sound biased but i said it first time he lost it Gerrard should have remained the captain obv he got injured but if he hadnt it should have stayed with him.
