John Terry... you rat!

Hell give it back to Beckham:p:D....

Personally other than Terry i cant see anyone else being able to lead the team...its just a shame that the cheating scumbag couldnt keep his **** in his trousers...if he had then he wouldnt be in this position ie stripped of the england captaincy.

Terrible past?

Drink driving is shocking, getting caught speeding is bad but you sort of understand it with footballers huge ego's, also the drugs cheating and the fact that at the time he was granted the armband he's currently banned for one of the worst 'challenges' I've seen all season.

Other footballers have being caught drink driving, some even in the England team have.

He didn't turn up for the drugs test, he passed it when he took it a couple of days later.

You see challeneges like that every so often, Huth? Masch? Even the tackles in the Everton V Liverpool game were worse, the stamp by Fellaini was a much worse tackle.

I thought by "terrible past" you were going to have him down as a racist, terrorist rapeist and just horrible person.

Not one bad tackle, missing a drugs test and driving too fast.

Several wrongs don't make a right, drink driving is terrible, a plight on our society by idiotic and selfish morons. He's just as bad as the drink driver who killed a kid, the fact he didn't is purely down to luck.

He got banned for 9 months because he didn't go to a drugs test, nobody has 'forgotten' since, so either he's thick as a plank or lying.

I rarely see a 'challenge' where a player punches another off the ball, Masch did it to Beckford a bit ago but it's no secret that Mascherano is also flithy is it? It was petulance and thuggery, who punches/elbows somebody in a football game because they're being annoyed by a striker? Aren't strikers supposed to annoy defenders? What kind of idiot lashes out on a football field in front of millions of viewers. He doesn't have my support, put it that way. That's not how adults deal with problems, it's how chavs deal with their problems.

Irrational hate + player doing a few wrongs = :D

I think the same of any football player (or person) that drink drives, speeds and punches people :). It's hardly irrational, he doesn't sound like a man I'd get on with :)

Robert Huth, Masch, et all have all punched people more horrible awful people for your list.

Other players have drove well over the speed limit, as well as being caught drink driving. Doesn't make it right, but people do make mistakes all the time.

The Rio hate is really odd. All you Chelsea/Terry fans need to remember a few key things:
- Missing a drug test does not make you a drug cheat
- Despite Rio's poor past, it does not even compare to Terrys past (or present)
- Unlike Rio, Terry has shown no remorse or sense that he will ever learn. Rio's behavior has improved (yes, even with one red card)
- Instead of feeling sorry for "Mr Chelsea" feel sorry for his kids.

So in summary, Terry has no one to blame but himself and Rio is a far from perfect choice but the best of a bad bunch

Yeah and Robert Huth is shockingly filthy and Mascherano isn't far behind. Huth is actually one of the footballers I least like after some of the challenges I've seen him commit, absolute ********.

3 times? How many mistakes does it take? As well as drink driving? That shows he's irresponsible and doesn't learn from his mistakes.

- Missing a drug test does not make you a drug cheat Yes it does, it is exactly that
- Despite Rio's poor past, it does not even compare to Terrys past (or present) Why?
- Unlike Rio, Terry has shown no remorse or sense that he will ever learn. Rio's behavior has improved (yes, even with one red card) How has he shown this? 4 speeding convictions isn't someone that changes quickly
- Instead of feeling sorry for "Mr Chelsea" feel sorry for his kids. Yes, his family are the ones that will suffer most, but the choice of England captain should be made for who is right, not as a punishment.

So in summary, Terry has no one to blame but himself and Rio is a far from perfect choice but the best of a bad bunch

Rio is far from the best choice.

I've not said Rio should be the best choice.

I was never in favor of Terry getting it, but I've said several times, who else do you give it too? none of the others stand out.

Just to offer another option, that no-one has forgotten since could be down to the deterrent effect from the harsh punitive measures taken couldn't it? Maybe footballers are one of the few groups who respond to harsh punishments as a deterrent.

However he may also be thick and lying, I don't think it has to be an either/or situation for him.

1- Nonsense.
2- Come on..You can't be serious? Racism, assault, the club incident, selling his box, cheating on his wife (10, 12 times?), buying peoples silence..
3- Ok he's a serial speeder on a motorway.
4- Surely you can see that the captain represents the country and that he is a role model?
5- Then who else? Neither Lampard or Gerrard ever play well for England. And Lampard has no experience of being captain.
