Junior doctor strike: Union's pay demands unrealistic, says Steve Barclay

The Home Office admitted that there is no evidence to claim large number of economic migrants.

Plus, they could help solve the boats and hotel situations if they wanted to. Process quickly, allow asylum applications outside the UK. Anybody who doesn't have a right to be here can go.

Or you could fall into their trap and blame foreigners for it all.
Anything that comes out of the home office do not take it as fact.
They are really bad run by incompetents.

Back on to night shifts for me tonight to cover the strikes.

I'll make ready for the onslaught of transgender people, immigrants, health tourists but strangely will mostly just see kids with a fever.
A hospital of that size and in that location you'll not see any.

Third and Final warning.

If the immigrant/economic migrant stuff keeps trying to derail this thread I will issue thread bans.

When I heard the junior doctors rep putting their case forward he pointed out that being the 35% would cost £1bn. That's a huge sum of money. But then I remembered all those times that the government had just found a few £bn when they absolutely HAD to...for political reasons. They always have the cash when THEY feel is important/likely to keep them in power, I note.

Hope the night treats you well.

Rob is a great guy and I’m a bit shocked by the payslip comparison. I fully support the strike it is long overdue for change. When I did an F3 in Australia most of the other brits there stayed put, if change doesn’t come it will get worse and that was in 2016.

Short memories some people have on this forum.

Don't attack people for knowing their worth while ignoring the billions squandered in dodgy contracts or random PM musical chairs.

Next pandemic don't expect people to face death every day whilst others kickback on furlough.

Should all of us who weren't furloughed receive 35% pay rises?

Out of interest what was the independent pay review body's recommendation for junior doctor pay rise level?
They're on the 4th year of 2% pay increases:

"Independent" but limited by Goverment who see public sector pay as a tool to curb inflation.

Realistically the problem is the last decade of poor pay can't be admitted to by the government so they've likely lowballed to an unacceptable degree and have no intention of compromising for the sake of saving face.

The doctors should honestly just leave the country as they'd be treated better elsewhere.
