Just had the worst phone call of my life

I know as most do you might see me being a bit of a **** on here, but I just want you to know my thoughts are with you and your family right now, I can only imagine how you are feeling.

My Mum is the centre of my world, and even though I don't live at home I know if anything was to happen I'd be right by her side straight away.

Seriously, you're a really nice guy and you don't deserve this kind of **** happening to you.

I can only pray one day we find a cure to diseases like this, so both the immediate suffering and the suffering of others around the afflicted can end in a positive way, instead of the agony that must be with your family at the moment.

Take care buddy.

Mat

You take it easy if you're travelling with a lot on your mind ^Tank^; you're bound to have a very clouded brain at the moment.

Take it easy & chin up

My thoughts are with you Tank.

My parents moved to Cornwall a few years ago, and within 18 months, my mum had Breast Cancer and my dad had cancer of the osopheagus (sp)

Fortunately they both pulled through, my dad only just though.

Thoughts are with you Tank. I really hope your mum gets better, I know what you must be going through, all I can say is try keep your head up and just support her through this difficult time.

My mum has cancer of the oesophagus and its spread now to her legs and breasts so its about as terminal as it gets for her. Nice to read that people can get through it though for a change! My mum has known three people with cancer of the osopheagus and they died within six months.

My father had lymphoma (cancer of the immune system), it took about 4 months for it to get him into a really weak state. He spent 2 and a half weeks in hospital before they gave the answer and sent him home to have his last few days. Sadly, a day after he passed on.

I and everyone else here hope your mum does pull through, god willing. Just be there with her Tank, because if worst does come to worst, the thoughts after really do hurt. Share whatever moments you can. Wish you all the best.

^TANK^, sorry to hear this news I hope that you all find the strength together to get through this, may I offer my best wishes to your mother and your family :(

A member of our family is going through something similar and all they want is to have close family even closer at what is a very uncertain and painful time :(

Thanks Matt for the kind words, also I don't think I have ever read/seen you post anything to warrant you being labeled a ****.

Sometimes I like to play Devil's advocate, that's all. Nothing too bad. :)

This thread, and another, has given me the motivation to get something done about my general health, and also to get tested for diabetes. I know neither were particularly linked to what's happening now, but I'm going to try and minimise the chances of me and my family having to endure what you have or something similar, and make some important changes. People shouldn't have to watch diseases like this take hold.

Wishing you all the best mate, thoughts are with you.

My dad had 12 weeks of Chemo which took it's toll, then had a 10 hour op to remove the oesophagus and stretch the stomach up. Op went well until he started getting fluid in his chest cavity, docs gave him 12 hours if he didnt improve. Scary times. He did improve, and is fighting fit now.

Never an easy time Tank, my thoughts are with you and yours, I hope that your nephew pulls through as well.

My mum died tonight after her six month battle with cancer. She went into St Barnabas Hospice this morning with a urinary infection, which I think finished her off. Words can't describe how grateful I am that I got the chance to say goodbye to her. The last time I saw and spoke to her was yesterday.

Very sorry to hear about this. I lost my cousin to pancreatic cancer. It was heartbreaking, but I made the effort to spend as much time with him before he passed. It's good that you did too.

Stay strong.
