Just had to punch a bloke in B&Q

Talking of legalities, I'm still waiting for those who claim pedestrians ALWAYS have right of way to back up their claims with some references. Until this happens I'll go with the Highway Code's view of things, which clearly states the pedestrian was in the wrong.
Me to.

Not a woman (not the last time I looked anyway. but yeah, at the top of the page, says page 10 out of 10. go figure (unless its something to do with settings)
Aye, Post per Pages in your CP :)

I don't think anyone can dispute that the OP had no legal right to assault the pedestrian and he could well find himself being charged with assault.

Despite this, I still maintain that his actions were completely understandable, given the circumstances.
Bingo :)

Aye, me too.

If I were to key someone's car while they were in it I would fully expect to be beaten to the floor within seconds. I would consider myself lucky to walk away.

Regardless of who stepped out first, where the car was blah blah blah.. it boils down to this: the bloke keyed the car so he deserved a smack.
nicely said :D

no remorse should be felt ;)

^ well none of the people that have jabbered on about "pedestrians always have the right of way over everything in the entire world" have come up with any proof of it.

and i think the post before yours sumarises the whole thread in 1 quote and 2 sentences.

The guy keyed his car what do you expect him to do, i would have done more than punch the **** in the face, no wonder this countrys going to the dogs, police do bugger all, now ppl are doing bugger all, so if some scallys key your car etc... you will just do bugger all, yeah right pull the other one its got bells on.

Good on yer mate. :)

Aye, I agree.

Pub, anyone?

WAY ahead of you.

btw I can't actualy find a UK gov website with the law on it re rights of way,

most stuff I've found is about when your not from the UK and want info on the driving regs here on about.com etc, they say either pedistrians have right of way or that if your ON the corssing (pedestian that is) then you have right of way, either way the OP was wrong to smack a guy no matter what he did, I'd of liked to think that most people where grown up to settle disputes without resorting to their fists.

What on earth could you have possibly done differently in that situation?

You get out of the car, there's an obviously irate guy who has just caused criminal damage to your car.

What do you do? Get back in and pay for the damage, forgetting all about it?

I wouldn't advocate assault but lets face it the sort of person who will deliberately scratch somebody elses car is likely to tell you to go **** yourself if you tried to get some information to report them to the police.

I think I would have done the same. I'm not going to justify myself. I'm not a keyboard warrior. I can actually have a row. The guy who scratched the car reaped what he sowed. You shouldn't damage someones property and expect to get away with it. People like him are usually all talk and in this nanny state of ours are used to walking all over people and nobody saying or doing anything.

Of course I did. I've already responded to it once.

No it isn't, else I wouldn't have re-iterated it.

I just think you're delusional/naive.

well ok, if it was me, I'd of done what I said, rather than risking criminal charges etc.

and I find you calling me naive insulting, because I feel that you should work WITH the law to rectify the issue rather than taking the matter into your own hands?

[Removed - Personal attack]

now look, we've decended into name calling. what next? you gonna deck me ey?

I find it very difficult to believe you.

However, if it is true, then you are what is the problem with our country. The fact that you let people walk all over you with no retaliation.
