"Just stop oil"

It'll be interesting when the situation happens that one of these protesters gets punched in the face by a motorist.

Are the cops really going to try and charge the person for enforcing the road traffic act? If they do then it'll be a PR disaster for them.
already happened.
Range Rover Lady of South Essex is a clear example, forcibly moved the protestors with her car, believe she got a community order and lost her license.
The protestors, got away with a slap on the wrist.

i mean what do you expect ? you can’t just drive into people because they are being annoying scrotes

I always see people say “they are turning people against their cause“

Is the average person really so stupid that they will suddenly go from caring about saving the planet to not caring about it simply because some trust fund kids did a few annoying protests ?

edit: the answers probably “yes” isn’t it lol

Few things could bring me more joy right now tha watching someone pour a 5l bottle of 10W40 over them whilst they're glued to whatever the flavour of the day is.

But that is the stupid thing about going green.... green energy is CHEAPER than gas.... admittedly the start up costs of nuclear is pricey, and wind/solar alone cant do everything as it is too unpredicatable.

but wind/solar can do a hell of a lot more than it is doing currently. The fact that new build houses for instance still are no where near the efficiency that they could be is mindboggling all to save a few grand on the construction costs, at a point where it is ultimately a small percentage of the purchase price.

It’s not about that though. The people who make vast sums of money have a vested interest in the status quo. We have known for decades that climate change was happening and how to combat it. There is a reason we haven’t and it’s not the complexity or cost to us. The opioids crisis in the US costs their economy billions and billions. Why havent they fixed it? It’s another case of the people with real power choosing not to because they have an interest in it continuing.

Leave 'em there, don't give them any attention and just open the road.

It would be amusing if they did something like that at the art gallery, get security to clear the journalists out, have the curators remove the paintings from the room or just the nearby ones + erect some barricades to block access to the rest, then turn the lights off and leave them for a bit.

Night at the Museum: Just stop oil edition?

I certainly agree that risking people's lives to 'rescue' idiots from potential doom from a slip or trip type accident is counter productive. A night spent at the top of the tower may be educational.

Also why close the bridge, it was open while they climbed, unless they intend to bombard motorists from on high where intent to murder may be a viable charge, leave it open.

That and build a structure that is noise-cancelling and a Faraday cage (as far as is practical) around the ignorant, lying attention-seeking power-hungry harm-doing hypocrites who call themselves protestors.

There was a guy a while back who was blocked in his car on his way to work by the 'Insulate Britain' protestors. He eventually gave up speaking to them and lifted two of them up one by one, off the road and cable tied them to the metal fence at the junction then drove off. Seems fair enough to me - they want to immobilise themselves and protest, then he helped them do so albeit at the side of the road.

I may/may not have a number of cable ties in the boot of my car, they can be very handy for various motoring related DIY problems

Chloroform also helps subdue them.
