Kerbal Space Program

Got a link to that? Sounds interesting. :)

God that was a mission to find again

fuel tanks need to be in same stage as engine, or it wont calculate.
you can only use one part, or it doesn't work.
part must be removed before launch. otherwise rocket will be very unstable. not sure why as the part has zero drag.
it cant calculate complicated setups. like out fuel tanks with engines that drain into a center one, then discarding outer ring. but still gives you some idea.

Tried to make planes again, except starting from a rocket, then breaking off in space. I can actually just point to where I want to land on the planet and go there! Maybe even the mun......

But what strikes me is, my ship! goes from a pile of unorganised rubbish, to something quite easy to use.

The ladders on the side, i put on for a rescue mission. It seems trying to fly straight to a floating kerbal is quite hard.

Nice looking rocket Marc.
Especially like your shot of the Pole, looks cool.
But isn't that craft design, tail heavy when in orbit trying to fly?
It certainly will have its uses, in orbit of the Green Gas giant, when .17 is released.

Getting frustrated. Got a 4 stage (well 4 main stage rocket)
Launch to kerbin orbit, power to deep spaced and back to grassing intercept on kerbin, land and take off stage, stage back to deep space and grazing trajectory with Kebin, capsual with parachute for final landing. I just can't get it to stay together on launch pad. It's so annoying. got it to stay together once, but didn't have quite enough delta v in first stage. I've actually took fuel tanks of and made it lighter and now it's falling apart.

Nope, if you have about 1/4 throttle it is very easy to control. But when you start dropping into the atmosphere at about 2000m/s it becomes very unstable. SaS is completely useless and you have to use RCS and WASD to try and keep it from flipping forward. Once you get through the atmosphere and start slowing down. You have to lift up the front with full throttle. If you do it at wrong time, you just nose dive into the ground :( Not the best of crafts. I'm about to set off and fly it around the mun.

it keeps failing at the central radial decouple at the top of the main engine stack. So just under those 4 big tanks and above the bottom stacks.

Set out to get a stranded kerbal at the south pole.
Mission ... failed.

setting up to land near the craft.

I CAN'T SEE THE GROUND?
screenshot14.png

Suddenly a shadow. But no Fuel, I realised i was free falling for about 1000m :(
screenshot15.png

Free rolling up to the craft.
screenshot16.png

Don't forget to lower your landing gear, how else will you get back up?

Hello I am here to rescue you maybe, call me crazy but I have no fuel maybe.
Sorry for lots of screenshots :(

What the hell, Glaucus! I've done Mun and Minimus double excursions with craft that are tiny by comparison!

is there a way to find out the offending object? a slightly reworked design and it gets about 20meters of the pad, then all the decouples on one fuel tank just fall apart. fuel tank fl-t32, but how do I find that part in the vab. there's another 5 identical fuel tanks and they don't do this.

Glaucus; that craft is flipping massive!!!
I honestly wouldn't know where too start trouble shooting, your craft issues.
But I can tell you, that using that many MK3 Fuel Tanks + Engines is bad. :D Its a little wonder it rips itself apart.

I strongly recommend moving back to VAB, an then relaunching your craft, it seems to temporarily stop that brake up problems observed by restarting the flight.

Then consider rebuilding your design, that certainly cant be good, power/weight ratio with that design.
Some times, smaller is better. :D

You just have to keep throttle under manual control. Now on another slightly different deisgn.
It's not ripping itself to bits yet. It's just a solid fuel booster keeps falling off making it unbalanced and going sideways. I can't see any reason for it to fall off, there's another 11 identicale solid boosters and they stay attached. Keep going back to VAB and adding more struts doesn't help. I expect it may well be a bug in the craft file. That a rebuild might sort out.

The old deisgn I managed to get to 60k but ran out of fuel on the first stage as the first 20k was so so slow TWR was to low early on. The outer 6 stacks weren't there, but the inner stacks had an extra fuel tank each.

Its designed to be massive, for the simple fact, I want it to go to a different plant, land and return to kerbin in one rocket.
Scott manly is hooding it in. A different way, he's going to launch two rockets. One to land/takeoff the over to rondezvoue in orbit to collect the Kerbals arpnd return them to kerbin.

removed pesky solid boosters and we have launch

quickly coming apparent, something is up with fuel lines, should only be 6 tanks at a time draining
screenshot8ep.png

winglets can no longer overcome the fuel imbalance and the mission is doomed, rip brave kerbal.

Glaucus, that is... ugly :p

I was going to work on an interplanetary design, i have a few ideas. But i decided to work on a reliable Kerbin system explorer first.

Gets to orbit easily enough, fuel drains from two of the outer tanks at a time and they drop off in pairs. I usually have a couple of tanks left in the centre of the stack. Been having a few problems with the lander though, centre of mass was a bit high and testing it on Kerbin is a no go.

Yeah parachutes make it very ugly, but hey ho, I need to use as little fuel as possible in landing, as that stage has to get back into orbit after landing. Each parachute is on a decoupled.

Does anyone know of a throttle plugin. Now got it stable, but it rips itself apart (to be expected), As my computer can't handle it and lags, I only have three speed settings 0%, 50%, 100%. When it doesn't lag, you have reasonably fine throttle control, but when it lags just those three.

You still exploring kerbal system. Should get the satelite mod and put one in each orbit and land on both moons, then return to kerbin.
