LED Bulb Thread

Hi guys. Earlier this week I finally got keys to my place. In the corridor I have 4 CFL GU 10 spot lights I'd like to replace with some LED lights. I can't seem to find any. CFL lights seem to be much longer than normal GU10s.
Can you recommend me any?

Take one out and post a picture if unsure.
Most gu10 fittinga have their connecors on a small cable inside the housing to allow for variations in lamp length. Some have a fixed connection and usually the housing is wide enough to allow a bulb to be slightly recessed but still fit / work. Most good led gu10s are more or less the same dimensions as a 50watt halogen so try one of those for size first.

What were the led bulbs someone was talking about that were very slightly pink/rose/red tinted and made the colours seem very vibrant? Can't seem to find the post by searching :(

Also, anyone know of any g4 ones that are brighter than ~10w halogens, but are no bigger than the connector? My main light in my living room uses 10 of them, and each is covered by a little frosted glass shade so can't be any bigger than these ones http://www.ledhut.co.uk/spot-lights/g4-led-bulbs/1-watt-g4-led-bulb.html
But I want them to be brighter :/

I'm after some LED lighting to light a shed, preferably warm white.. but want to run it off a leisure battery so 12v dc? Can anyone recommend any, and do they give off enough light to be the only light source in the shed?

Got another 20 LAP GU10 LEDs on order. 10 at 5w and 10 at 4w which will cover the rest of the fitments in my house with a few left over. Just got my spare bedroom and lounge to convert to LED but will more than likely be changing the fitment so that they are GU10 compatible as well.

We have done the whole house with LEDs over the last couple of years. They have come on a lot in that time. Here are the best bang per buck ones...

Recently bought 9w warm version of these for chandelier and very impressed by colour and brightness and 'sparkle' .

10w white of these as outside lights using a single adjustable fitting used in kitchens etc... strictly speaking for indoor use, but under the eves. One for the back garden and one for the drive.

wonder if anyone can answer me this, I have a 4 bulb light fitting in my office fitted with GU10 LED bulbs

It works fine for a while (months) but then as soon as one bulb fails all the rest of them fail in a few hours

Odd...

which LED's are you using?
you should not really see the end of the life of an LED GU10 for a few years really so that's the first problem - why is the first one going?

Just about to buy these :

As a few of my older LED bulbs i think has blown.

Anyway as I'll be effectively replacing all the ones in my kitchen just wondered what should I go for, warm white / daylight / cool white ?

I think I got the standard warm white at the moment.

they're good lamps!
I have all 3, and I think that they're all on the cooler side than most to start with, so I'd go warm white too. the warm white ones are cooler than what most define as 'warm white' they're deffo not as warm as ikea LED's or regular bulbs.

anything better than 'led20' offer at ledhut atm?

and is 'megaman' the same as samsung? I just ordered a bunch of the former, but they were all samsung branded when they arrived.

I just wasted a bit of money buying a strip of LEDs to go under my kitchen work tops. I wanted them to replace the existing tube lamps, they do not produce enough light.
This is what I bought. Ill likely find another use for them so cant really say I wasted the money.

So I don't make any more mistakes money id like some advice please!

I've looked at these

https://www.ledhut.co.uk/led-strip-...arm-white-best-price-on-the-internet-237.html

Are they likely to give me enough light to work at the kitchen tops when they are on? Do I need a 36w psu to power them i.e. the one linked below or do I need more output from a psu? Ill need all 2.5m to be powered.

The 5050 leds are bright enough for me to work under. I went for warm white as well, which are not quite as bright as the cool white.

After a bit of advice from folk who have put these in on a larger scale, firstly how they planned the locations, secondly a recommendation of downlight and bulb. A new extension is pretty much up apart from bifolding door. The image below shows the dimensions, 3 sky lights in the roof, kitchen, dining table etc.

Where would you put the downlights, do they need to be more concentrated in the kitchen?

Would like dimmers if possible, and possibly 2 controls, one to cover the dining/kitchen area and one to cover the rest where the bifolds and settee etc are.

Hey guys. Quick question to all the led bulb techies.. How can I tell if my light fittings will power led bulbs? I got mr16 spotlights. About ten of them. Can I buy one bulb to test if it works? Then buy more once I know it powers up? I'm gonna place an order with ledhut, but I don't wanna buy ten to find out I need a transformer to go with it :p

Edit. The house is a new build, and the kitchen already has 15 gu10 led bulbs in place. So in theory the whole house should be led ready?

Just baught the family home this month. 4 bed bungalow and went replacing all the bulbs with leds. There was 100quid left in the electricity so investing now to save later also hate the light the energy efficient bulbs give off. All is left is two lights with G4s and the kitchen with about 12 or 14down lights to change. Is it better to replace the transformers for led spots? I want to replace the all the units and not just the bulbs as they are a awful brass colour

Before I place an order for a 2.5m LED strip rated at 36w, can anyone tell me if a 36w transformer will power the LEDs fully, or should I get something rather over 36w?
