---Left 4 Dead 2 Thread---

lets face it

the majority of people on my friends list play left for dead regularly

that is around 50+ OcUK forum members all logging hundereds of hours gameplay

so i feel i got my £20 worth out of l4d1

you know the new one will sell thousands

why complain that a developer develops games

EA release a new Fifa every year and nobody bats an eyelid

Tho, in all honestly, I'd much rather they work on HL2 ep3 instead. There's still ton's o' life in L4D, and we've been waiting aaaaaaages for the next HL2 installment :(

You pretty much expect that from a football game.. and from EA, and everyone knows EA is a cash cow.

It's just that everything we know about Valves working method tells us that this can't feasibly be happening!

What happened to the prolonged DLC 'in a similar fashion to TF2'? Survivor mode doesn't really fulfill that promise. This sequel is kinda what I expected to be added to L4D over the next year or two.

Anyway, I easily got my £33 out of them. I am a bit hacked off that they released the SDK so late that the mod scene hasn't been allowed to kick off, and now there is a sequel.
 
Different dev team to Half Life, the guys who made CS:CZ make L4D.

There's also 6 months until it comes out. And it could be hugely discounted / free to owners of L4D. It's too early to say anything yet really.
 
I honestly was shocked by this, didnt expect Valve to whip out another L4D literally 1 year after the 1st. Its a lot like R6 Vegas and Vegas 2. I get the feeling Valve want a money maker between there larger projects, i guess L4D is the sort of game that allows them to do that.
 
I think possibly, they are going to do this often by the looks of it.. a new left 4 dead every year

but are they going to have the same amount of maps and just make a sequel with new infected every year>? sounds a bit like Tiger woods 06-07-08-09 etc.. i think you know what i mean

bit disappointing but i have no doubt that they will deliver, but other than that they definately need new infected and not just rehashed updated ones.

May have been better if there was a slight story like Louis, Zoey, Bill & Francis escape and on their way crash or something and meet the 4 new survivors where the infection has spread. Though the name L4D would not mean anything anymore, sounds more original at least.

Maybe they could have called it Left 4x2 Dead :p

I'm going to miss the original survivors anyhow.

Of course not, there will be a mod with all 8 survivors in it, just need to tripple the amount of zombies to balance it. Heck why not put freeman in there toowith his crowbar, not too unfitting.

On a slightly more serious note i was hopeing this was going to be an expansion type of thing. I'll still buy it but i will have to put on a grumpy face when doing so.

Have not seen that myself, but i did suggest that randomly generated maps would make a huge difference on a thread i posted not too long ago here. it's a shame they are not spending more time to make a big portion of the maps random. I still think this will make certain future games massively fresh

Glad they are taking that route though, albeit slowly.
 
my main hope is they dont go back to trying to make it competitive in the sense of tank in the same place for both teams etc.
ruins the random elements of the game in versus, imho
 
They have added to TF2 so probably want to recoop some £ from the free stuff man hours they have given away.

I will buy it if its a decent price or I get an offer as I own the original, if its too expensive they can stuff it up there bottom :)
 
Sigh! Oh well IF the game looks anything like the trailer then it’s all good imo, Zombies defo look more scary and disfigured. But the people (characters) look like models TFC2 characters or was it just me?

I can't help but think of the Better Off Ted episode; "Diversity--just the thought of it makes these white people smile" -- They have tried so hard to cover bases but you just know there are going to be such stereotypical 1 dimensional sound bites coming from their PC mouths. I can't wait for Left 4 Dead 3 when theres the guy in a wheel chair and the lesbian with tourettes.

And what the hell is with the Scout and Quagmire?

It's unbelievable that so many people are annoyed at the fact that they're trying to 'cash in' on a franchise. If the games good, and you get 20+ hours of gameplay out of it - is it not worth £30? If you feel so strongly about it, here's an idea - don't buy it, and quit whinging. Jeebus.

What is the alternative? How long should they wait? I really fail to see the logic behind complaining about the fact that a sequel to a great game has come out early. If it were six months later would you all be complaining that you've waited too long? :confused:

If they could release an improvement on a great game every six months, I would be more than happy to pay £30 for the privelege of playing it.

You are paying £30 to play for an improved game, for a minimum of six months. What is the problem? If you can't afford it, don't pay for it. You're all making it sound as if L4D isn't going to be playable once L4D2 has been released.

I demand to see your logic.

Right. So they're trying too hard because there's two black people as the main characters? It's set in New Orleans isn't it? Does New Orleans not have a high population of black people? Why would you even pick up on that? If it where a guy in a wheel chair, you'd think "well no, that's not likely, he'd have a hard time battling the horde in that thing". But it's not, it's just two people who are black. Who are equally capable of fighting zombies as any other able bodied person. (The Internet - Serious Business)
