LG 42-inch OLED

Cheers mate. Spoke to JL today and they're going to replace it with a new one on Thursday week, first time I've used JL customer service and probably one of the best support experiences I've had. Took all of about 2 minutes and the order was in the system for the replacement.

Agreed, JL customer service is good!

Hey folks! Does anyone else have a problem with their HDMI inputs automatically changing back to default from 'PC mode'? The icon changes from the little PC symbol back to the symbol of an HDMI port randomly on mine.

I have 2 PC's connected to the TV but both have had their input settings change back multiple times. This is frustrating as the calibration profile changes and there are some other more subtle differences (red text on dark background is blurry on non PC-Mode)

I don't unplug the TV so I doubt it's a volatile memory issue. Only one of the inputs is a laptop so that is occasionally unplugged but the PC is always connected.

Do you switch the PC off at the wall?

Yup 03.21.45 is available here

Improvement of software-related minor issues

According to insiders, this is not the important major Web os 7.3 update though I believe that will come next year now.

Query for desktop 42C2 daily monitor owners, there is a guy I am trying to help out he has a odd issue he is using the G2 as a monitor but with say Firefox the top grey browser bar auto dims after a minute or so.

This is with tpc and gsr off and oled 30 even, do daily C2 owners notice these kind of issues?

Just setup the monitor, straight out of the box, first impressions in a couple of games. Very nice.

I got a free calibration it seems as they provided printed reports, must have been a booking mixup. Does anyone have a go to link for what windows and nvidia settings to put in place for oled and similarly, any basics for the monitor it's self? I've got a LG OLED for the living room TV, so I'm fairly familiar with the settings for picture and general.

Thanks!

EDIT: Can someone PM me where they got the service remote?

I cant seem to find this display at a decent price. Especially so when I read here some have snapped it up for £700.
Would be keen to replace 2 x 32' HP OMEN's with one of these

Thanks, ran through the vid, all settings set and very happy. One last question, I aimed for 200 nits with SDR using 74 brightness. However, in desktop use (with HDR turned off in Windows) it's fairly dim. Is this normal?

When I enable HDR in Windows, it's MUCH more bright and vivid.

Your eyes will get used to it and thank you later. IU have mine set at 125nits in desktop SDR. That is brigthness 82 on my lg. I have measured it with my colorimeter and it is indeed 126nits. It does vary from tv to tv and firmware toio firmware as to what the brightness actually is.

Update 10 Nov 2022 – it seems users are having difficulty using the built-in pattern generator on the LG C2 series after a firmware update from LG, and it is producing incorrect colours and making calibration impossible. We are keeping an eye on the situation and will follow up with Portrait Displays for updates. In the mean time, by all means try to use this process, but it may not work on a C2 at the moment in which case you would need to wait for an update from LG/Portrait.

I just wasted £125 on calman home for lg...
didnt even know where was a issue with this tv until i tried useing it and got weird colors like black was green and white was pink ... then did some searching and found that information god damn it , is there a way i can calibrate this tv without the use of the pattern generator on the tv ????????

Its a mess at the moment really. I mentioned these issues in a few of my post a while back, there was some hope LG was going to fix the internal patterns by this xmas but apparently LG has some bugs so its delayed but there is a massive LG firmware update due next year that hopefully fixes this so calman can better work.

Anyhow others gave up and just built a Raspberry PGenerator to get around the issue, its apparently more accurate and better anyhow. See this thread here also a massive calibration thread which discusses all the issues with current 2022 LG OLEDs and calman and work arounds here.

I actually attempted to go around all the above issues so got my TV calibrated..... but the guy I think did not do it properly so want to do it myself so am also waiting, although might be better to buy a raspberry and just sort it out.

Ok looks complicated but im sure it will be easy enough after some research, i wonder though if there is a free method to use as a Pgenerator... for instance, i wonder if i could use a Laptop instead of a RasperyPi for instance im pritty sure you can boot rasperypi iso`s on windows or linux and then get calman to connect to the pi generator over lan or wifi to my laptop for the pgenerator.....
going to do more research on this lol any idea`s is it possible ? cause i really dont want to have to pay more money £130 ish pounds for the rasperypi 4b kit ....

Ok did more research and yes think im going to need a rasperypi cause the thing has to connect to tv with hdrmi and i dont have a laptop that has 4k over hdmi apart from my pc....
then again im just wondering if its also possible to run the rasberrypi pgenerator through a vm from my main pc thats connected to my tv with my 3090ti ;) that would probably work but i need to find out if i can emulate a rasberry on a pc lol

EDIT2: ok vmware workstation should be able to run the rasberrypi pgenerator image iso and mirror it as a rasberrypi from within windows :) going to give this a try tommorow ;) then once up and running i should be able to connect to it with calman home for lg as it will be on the same network :) ok i think this might work but in all honesty im not holding my breath lol
EDIT3: ok its impossible lol, the Pgenerator Iso seems to be some form of linux but the linux distro that im using cant seem to detect what format its using properly so i cant load the iso in rasberypi cause vmware cant figure out how to load the iso from the sdcard lol

Great attempt and like the persistence ;)

You are more on the game and know more about it then myself, I have barely skimmed those threads but I think people tried work arounds with a PC etc it all failed and there are 100s of complaints of the patterns not really working properly. There is something in the rasperberry pi4 set up that just makes it all work and it apparently does a much more better job then the inbuilt LG patterns anyhow.

The issue is more complex since LG claim its Calmans fault... Calman claim its LGs fault and also the main LG developer from Calman apparently left the company, its an nightmare with that situation down there lol

This is why I think its probably better to just get the Rasperberry route and don't wait for LG and Calman to fix something that has apparently been broken for a year already. Still let us know if you figure it out, me, greebo and badass would interested.

If LG C3 has an auto calibrate button, my C2 would go up for sale
