LG 42-inch OLED

I don't unfortunately use my 42C2 as a daily monitor more for a TV, so others maybe able to answer it a bit better, but I believe it should be fine.

I can point you to the LG companion app though, this is good tool to make your C2 more PC monitor ie it goes on when you switch the pc on and off when shut down etc, its found here

You also have colourcontrol app which helps tweaks and similar features.

Try the above 2 tools they should hopefully make it more PC monitor type experience for your OLED.

Yes you may notice the whites are duller especially if coming from an LED monitor or LED TV, they can display whites more brighter and whiter so the OLED white is not quite the same as LED screens white but your eyes and brain do oddly adjust after a few days and it becomes normal. With LG OLEDs atm its totally normal, LG are improving this with MLA or Meta technology in the future and QD-OLEDs (another technology) are often more whiter whites but we may not see this tech in 42" and smaller size screens for a quite a while.

Thanks again. Am going to check out those apps. Like the idea of the shutdown etc ...

I have my Philips 436M6VBPAB (which I have used for years) set up behind the C2 just to compare the same stuff ... At first I wasnt sure I would like the C2 but now; Im really starting to like it. Really like the glossy screen (I used a old catleap monitor which has a glossy/ips screen and the screen was beautiful. (still have the monitor but nothing uses dvi connection anymore (only my old 970gtx :) - anyways ... Really like the contrast with the C2 and how I could have one picture and then another right next to it with different colors etc and I dont see them blend in like my Philips 436M6VBPAB. I dont have any issue with the txt its fine to me. Just not totally sure if the 42" is big enough the philips technically is 1" bigger and to be honest I would like it slightly bigger then this; 45" would prob be perfect but they dont make 45" so still debating about a 48".

Yeah its just an adjustment really, quick google shows that philips 43" is an MVA type panel so I believe some sort of VA type panel literally the OLED should be much better in terms of colours, blacks and viewing angles, maybe the VA panel may have the upper hand in whites though but the OLED wont be too far off. I have had philips, samsungs, LGs as bedroom size screens usually VA type panels so still remember the differences well.

Its really hard to say for 100% with the 42" vs 48" debate, but you could cut out a cardboard prop of the C2 48" (get sizes via google) and place it in front or on the back of your existing 42" to kind of compare the size. Its not the best test but might give you a feeler of how it maybe its one of those things where until its front of you and in your face you can work out if its right or not...

The 48" is a fantastic size screen I just found it too big but then I am usually 1metre and a bit away from it so its just too big but you may love it, I find the 42" too big also for a daily monitor also so use an 4K 28" monitor instead, I may go for the 28" or 31" LG OLED apparently due this spring as a daily monitor though.

Bit of an aside but, you should be able to get a DisplayPort to DVI-D cable if the monitor is DVI-D. DisplayPort passively converts to HDMI and HDMI concerts to DVI so it should be possible :)
ahh thanks - ya I think I looked into that once - think it only does 1080p? the catleap is a 1440p monitor - wish you could get a modern video card with a dvi connection maybe I need to install my old card in my new system :) and try to run 2 cards in it (not sure how that would work).

ya this philips uses a quantum dot so the colors are actually quite nice for a va panel (one of the older or at the time newest QD tech). Almost dont want to let it go but my desk is too small to hold 2 43"~ monitors. Thats a good idea with a cardboard cutout I actually did this when I was thinking about getting a 27" and setting it up picture mode to use as a second screen and so I could see how it would work next to my monitor and it was going to be perfect - just never spent the money on it.

Several reports are coming in that PC apps are broken or LG have closed the access or loopholes, so all LG C2/G2 owners if you are using LG companion app or Colourapp etc some things or the entire program may not run properly, you may wish to skip this update if you rely on those software app tools.

Guess more info will come since its only been out for 1 day.

I'm moving house(finally) in the coming weeks and going to be upgrading my setup a little. I'm picking up an Ergotron HX arm for my C2 42" but just wanted to see if anyone had a recommendation on a solid adapter plate for it as I believe it requires one!

Had this now since November best monitor I could have bought but need a graphics card update currently running a 1080Ti.

I am a casual gamer so don’t need a card that gives good performance at 4K.

What’s a good recommendation?

I've got the below plate, havent fitted it or the arm yet as I need to replace my desk before i use it as a monitor.

PureMounts PM-Adapt-B - Universal VESA TV Mount Adaptor Plate for VESA 50x50 up to 400x200

I tend to like amd cards and running a 6700xt works great; to be honest Im waiting for a 7700xt~ to come out and perhaps move up to that. I could get a bigger version but to be honest want to save on the energy usage so what a less powerful card.

Grrr was looking at this as price was down at £839 but has jumped to £999 today before i could pull the trigger

There was a a bit of an general increase of prices come January, maybe just inflation etc but with any luck once LG release the G3 and C2 I believe next month or March, hopefully we see C2s drop back down in price to around £800.

There are some selling on their Shiny almost new C2s already, one guy on members market offering it for £650 but collect from Manchester only.

Still an insane price given it was 1.2k only 6 months ago.

They hit 700 on black friday so should hopefully hit that again once the C3 is out. Picked mine up for 750 about a month ago.

Or some of use got lucky with JL price drop guarantee and bought for £699 and then got £50 back 3 weeks later on black friday so paid only £649. Incredible tv for that price IMO. They should drop to £700 again.

I paid £849 a few days before Black Friday, thinking the "Black Friday Week" run-up would be the lowest it would go lol. Still, I'm delighted with the monitor, and it's less than what I paid for a G9 (that's me justifying it to myself).
