LG 42-inch OLED

Worked perfect tonight. No idea what happened last night, maybe after the colour one failed I should have rebooted and started over. Completed first time and calibrated to average 0.4 and max 1.2 delta. I'll take that. Thats SDR game mode done, will work through the other ones and HDR. Takes a good 2 hours each time so is time consuming but worth it. TFT instructions are perfect so long as you take your time and dont miss any steps. Might do a sdr wide gamut one as well so i have that as an option.

Massive difference claibrated to how the screens come as standard. Anybody who doesn't get their LG OLED calibrated by either paying somebody or doing it themselves is missing out IMO.
I've been super lazy about it, adjusted a few seconds but have not calibrated it properly, I will do it at some point. Just laziness I guess, too tried after work, too busy at the weekend.

Awesome result, will do it soon think I will also re-do it once portrait release a newer software version with C2 series support also.

btw the update is fine to use right? - saw a previous post about some issues? ... (funny I had been using my 'monitor' when it still had a screen protector on ... couldnt really tell a difference to be honest.) enjoying the screen when playing dark screen games like state of decay 2 or star valor

Not sure what that will change? My c2 monitor is listed in the pull down lists on the current calman software and it controls it fine for the test patterns.

i am using the latest update and no issues so far. i needed to to get the calman software working on it anyway.

I can see why. Even sat on the sofa and controlling it with my ipad via vnc its around 2 hours on and off per setting on the tv so if you are doing all of them then its going to take a lot of time. Plus its not like its one click and come back in 2 hours, it needs regular clicks/selections as you work through it.

Will do my hdr modes this weekend.

You could save a lot of time, and still get very good results, if you switch to 14 point greyscale instead of 21, and lightning LUT instead of 9 point grid. Prob about 30 - 45 mins total per calibration :)

Just have that lingering thought if calman have improved something and fomo or it goes horribly wrong :D

Apparently though autocalman for HDR is iffy and not always displaying the right colours. 2-3 guys already mentioned it recently here, here, here and even this famous TV-calibrator D-Nice mentioned it here today.

I have no idea how to start an manual 2 point white or manually calibrated 1DLUT via CM DDC control panel but you may wish to do this instead of autocalman and hdr or wait for better clarification at least, if you get a chance perhaps check those links above or maybe @Baddass can give us some wisdom on it.

is that the pattern generator on the C2 causing problems? If so, they’ve had loads of issues with LG on that. I wouldn’t bother getting in to loads of random manual calibration personally, you’d prob get decent enough visual results with some OSD tweaks for now, until autocal is fixed

Anyone else get AMD driver crashes since using this 'monitor'? - I cant think of anything else that would be causing this. But my AMD driver would crash and sometimes crash a game or cause my screen to go black or freeze for a bit. I also noticed this happening when I play a game then alt-tab to do something else and then sometimes the game just crashes when in the past it did not ... coincidence or?

hmm might hold off doing the hdr auto cal then for now. Might do the manual 2 point white calibration though.

I don't think its down to the iTPG, others have suggested its just the autocalman hdr process being inaccurate or buggy so they do it manually with calman or other methods.

Yeah those guys said it triggers on certain movies tough like the new blade runner and The Revenant and only under hdr, does this video look good for doing the 2 point white calibration? It was 7 years ago so wondering if it even still works since I can't find an up to date guide on it.

No idea but thats the video I am going to try and follow!

Some people on avforums say they have had successful calibration with calman software and the consensus seems to be its hit and miss so you might get lucky or you might not.

Wonder why DV calibrates fine though? Isnt that dolby vision aka hdr anyway?

Very confusing for sure, that is also one the questions I am trying to figure out I can see @ViRuS2k asking similar type questions over there also, he may know a bit more info on it.

Otherwise from what I can tell AVS guys are using LG Autocalman for SDR and DV well enough, see this post and this post but as with the DV issue you can't get it verified for now, HDR10 its better to stick with an 2-point white calibration method according to some on there.

I think DV is just a different type of HDR so yeah its similar.

Actually @Greebo found a better 2 point white home video, was done on the LG C1 though and he also did it for DV and HDR through manual calibration mode on Calmanhome. I think it looks simpler and quicker to do also, which at this point is most welcome lol

I believe @ViRuS2k was looking for a video perhaps doing similar.

Starts at 30 minutes into video but its well worth watching whole thing to get an idea.
