LG 42-inch OLED

Thanks for the suggestion but I currently work on a three screen set up so really like a lot of real estate! my main screen is 32" 4k so a 15.6" is not an option (for me)

I'm worried the superwide screen 34" won't be tall enough, but due to the price difference with the 42" I've gone for it...just starting to "wobble" a little :)
What size in length and depth is your desk? Or is it a workplace? Mine is 160cm in length and 90cm in depth. Though I have a desktop attachment from my previous desk to use to organize.
I'll have to see first if I can still use my 22" monitor but probably not. I have 8 headphones too. But then again, my desk is mainly for entertainment so I do perfectly understand everyone has their own setups for different use cases.

If I was asked to work off a 15.6" screen I'd quit my job :D Some of us do pretty complex technical work on computers.

You would be surprised.. first time I asked for a bigger monitor I got one 2" larger. Then I asked for a bigger one during lockdown (as everyone seemed to be getting one) and it was again 2" bigger... so I just use my old gaming monitor as main display and the work one to the side.

Having had a look around I'm seriously considering the "LG OLED48C14LB", I can get it from JL with the 5 years Protect Plus for £979.10...

This video has almost swayed me...

Currently have the Alienware 34 QD-OLED GamingMonitor-AW3423DW on order (not shipped) for £847, might (might) cancel...

I'd like the 42" C2 but is it worth ~£400 more (with the 5 years Protect Plus)

I don't know what to do!!! :)

Not sure if I'd quit my job but I'd be raising grievances with anyone that would listen! They did offer me two 22" screens but I politely declined. I haven't been back to the office since first lockdown, grown too comfortable using my own peripherals instead of the garbage they provide.

I was requesting a new headset off the companies IT equipment page last week and had a look at the monitors page. Could get a Dell 49" Ultrawide but the boss said don't even think about it

If I do end up getting one of the 42" OLED's I'll probably never go to the office again.

Its a 50/50 risk these new OLEDs get burn in still, if we believe LG they would probably say it wont exist they appear that confident. I have to admit when I got my JL burn in cover, I knew I wasted £140 since you could see all those algorithms kicking in such as pixel shift, logo dimming, ABL, ASBL etc

We are still a good id say 2-3 years away I reckon, but the moment you start seeing CX burn in, we will know LG was fibbing about it again.

2 other things that might be important, since MR curries have that LG partnership, they appear to just swap any OLED panels of late even ones with burn in just say pixel degradation. Mr Richer appears to be giving customers 50% of the OLED panel swap cost if not all of it. These are with OLED customers from before 2018 though. And the 2019 OLED customers that got burn in appear to have been using 2017 panel stock.

Hopefully burn in stays dead and buried in the past.

I've ordered the above, arrives on Saturday...can always send back if I change my mind in the meantime...

Desk is 2.5 metres in width and 0.8 depth...it's in my small mancave so takes up the entire width of the room.

I'll be interested to see how you find the 42" OLED, I'll will be buying a new countertop either 80mm or 96mm deep for my desk, i think 80mm should be ok. I briefly used a 35" & then a 34" ultrawide on a 60mm deep desk without issues (except i hated the motion blur so returned them both).

I've ordered the C1 48" (gulp)... Just hope I like it...

Why is it so thick? What happened! My oled is paper thin on the bezels.
Presumably your OLED isn’t 42 inch and has a thicker section toward the bottom to house all the electronics.

For the 42 inch model the electronics are the same size as the larger screen models so the back of the display is pretty much all housing for those electronics.

Yeah the 42" is very thick bezel at the back good spotting, its taking up pretty much the entire back base.

see here its more clearer:

But the 48" which is few inches bigger totally different see here:

The mainboard and ps are all placed at the bottom half tv casing almost.

Its a bit of a curious design really, could the electronics really take up all that space?

One thing I spotted is the LG C2 42" has all 4 hdmi ports and all the ports on the side which is far better then the C2 48" which has 1 hdmi port on the back and some other ports also which is a pitta if you are wall mounting or pushing the screen back against the wall which naturally TV manufacturers don't do :o
Maybe this was why they had to arrange the mainboard and p/s to take up all the space of the 42" back casing.

999 was my max personally. I figured that a 42 inch TV shouldnt be more than that. I was clearly wrong :D.

I hoped that it would be around 750 but figured it would be upsold due to popularity and nearer a grand.

Yeah was thinking maybe some discounts would be near that figure, however after the alienware monitor is now lead times beyond the summer from the look of it, I am open to one of these tv's.

I measured the tellies in the house and I think 48" would be too colossal for my rooms

I think it's an excellent choice for a gaming monitor/Tv and there is nothing out there better in my opinion. It's just too rich. The price is almost the same amount I paid for my 55 inch C8 oled and that really was a stretch for me.
