LG 42-inch OLED

Argh torn on whether to switch my John Lewis order over to Richer Sounds tomorrow while their £100 off code is available..

Want it as cheap as I get get it of course, but have had the JL order since Feb and they already sent those silly headphones which I’d assume I’d need to send back.

Also would mean not getting the JL extra burn in cover, which I’ve been considering adding on.

Decisions decisions..

Well Mr Richersounds £100 offer ran out today, wait for Mr Curries and JL to get stock and then price match attempt it, the issue is the My curries offer is with the recycle option so Mr Lewis might be picky with that issue, but you can tell them on the first price promise submission in the notes that you can add the code and it still works without the recycle option, see if you get £100 off.

I ain't gonna bother with burn in with D&G insurance, going to take the gamble that LG are right and we wont see burn in ever again.

I hope QD-OLED competes well with LGs OLEDs, to me it does not feel like there has been much improvements with OLED last few years, sure they are trying to add better gaming, hdmi 2.1, more details in blacks, brighter panels which is subjective at best. But QD-OLED appears to have got those areas right off the bat.

See they have something called Blue OLED in 2024, should now make blue equal to red and green and can be used on all OLEDs and QD-OLEDs.

I think LG might make QD-OLED screens even better, at least they appear to be on it tech and spec wise compared to Sony and Samsung.

  • £999 - 42"
  • £1299 - 48"
  • £1599 - 55"
  • £2199 - 65"
  • £2999 - 77"
  • £3999 - 83"
This would be based on the US price for the 55" and 65" options and then adjusting everything around those two models with slight premium at the larger sizes.
According the rumors way back, the 42" should be 999GBP but somehow, either the rumors were a bunch of ******** or the people who said, were high and stoned at the same time.

The € is worth **** so of course it's higher than 999 lol

If it was £999, I'd buy it with the 5 year extra cover (JL) as a little worried about burn in - I'd use it as my work monitor in the day and play thing at night! :)

Worried 8 hours a day, 5 days a week with the taskbar showing may be an issues (although could auto-hide etc...)

Currently have the Dell on order, but still tempted by the size of this!

What about a portable monitor to use for work? Like 15.6" or something. When gaming, you switch to the OLED screen. It's what I've prepared.
Although it's the Lenovo Tab 13 which is an Android tablet and a portable monitor in one which makes it very convenience to use on my desk.

If I was asked to work off a 15.6" screen I'd quit my job :D Some of us do pretty complex technical work on computers.

Thanks for the suggestion but I currently work on a three screen set up so really like a lot of real estate! my main screen is 32" 4k so a 15.6" is not an option (for me)

I'm worried the superwide screen 34" won't be tall enough, but due to the price difference with the 42" I've gone for it...just starting to "wobble" a little :)
