LG 42-inch OLED

Yeah the 42" is very thick bezel at the back good spotting, its taking up pretty much the entire back base.

see here its more clearer:

But the 48" which is few inches bigger totally different see here:

The mainboard and ps are all placed at the bottom half tv casing almost.

Its a bit of a curious design really, could the electronics really take up all that space?

One thing I spotted is the LG C2 42" has all 4 hdmi ports and all the ports on the side which is far better then the C2 48" which has 1 hdmi port on the back and some other ports also which is a pitta if you are wall mounting or pushing the screen back against the wall which naturally TV manufacturers don't do :o
Maybe this was why they had to arrange the mainboard and p/s to take up all the space of the 42" back casing.
The 55, 65 and 77 inch C2 also have all 4 HDMI ports on the side. The 83 inch models had 2 HDMI on the side and 2 on the back.

So its not that 4th hdmi port then, wonder why its different on the 48".

That mainboard and power board must be a whopper size on the 42" to make that bezel that thick, maybe there was some thermal heating restriction.

I think i'll be mad if i buy this.

I have a 65" GX OLED in my living room, 55" GX OLED in my bedroom, 65" QN94A in my cabin.

4 expensive TVs.. but but this is for pc gaming...!

It'll fit, and I can sit far enough away, I'm just unsure if it will give me a headache without using it, obviously if you can't return a opened TV it's a risk I'll have to way up... I'd just like to know if retuning is an option...

You have 14 days to return even if opened as long as its in a resellable condition, so keep all the packaging intact.

That's good to know thanks!

The order is with John Lewis, who I think are pretty good when it comes to customer service etc. so I shouldn't have much push back if (if) I return.

By original condition we mean:

you’ve kept all original packaging and labels in good condition and the product can be resold at full price
you haven’t used the product
the product contains no personal data and isn’t registered to a user.

I guess don't turn it on.. but not sure how they would know.

That complicates it a little, but thanks for the info!

I have read loads of comments on this forum about people using certain monitors and then returning for various reasons so presumably it can't be too difficult...

Apologies if already answered, do we know when the LG 42 Oled is planned to be shipped/available?

Anyone wanting one for productivity? I was looking at the C1 48 sometime ago for this use case, but, for me, just too big for my desk, and wanted higher ppi. Wondering how quality of text will look (software dev here), whether burn-in will still be an issue, and if able to turn off that auto-dimming feature (can't remember what it is called!)

42" is shipping if you got order in towards start, likely now a backlog. Mine is due in an hour :D

Yes it will have ABL and no you cannot turn it off (unless something significant has changed which I doubt). I will hopefully be able to comment later on text as planning to also using mine for work and play. As for burn in being an issue. There are mitigations in place and newer panels have become more resistant, but no absolutes and may be a chance of you have same static content up 12 hours a day 365 days a year etc. Is prudent to have screen turn off if not in use after short while, black background, hide taskbars etc.
