LG 42-inch OLED

Done as above, hopefully Black Friday will bring it down below £800, wishful thinking maybe.

Hoping to replace the current 48” c1 I use with the 42” and put the 48” downstairs to replace my ancient led tv.

just got my c2 yesterday 42 , love it but how do i enable 120hz ?

I've bought a new hdmi cable 2.1 tried turning 4k on of in hdmi deep colour but nothing .....

urgg trying everything and realised needed to scroll down to PC for 120hz lol

Anyway cracking screen , bought for 800 on very.co.uk best puchase ive made in a while. Have to upgrade living room now from C7 :)

way too big to be used as a monitor imo.
I even returned 34" Alienware QD-OLED one of the reasons being size and viewing distance on a desk was uncomfortable and unnatural.
27-30" is the sweet spot for desktop setup.
when 27-30" flat 16:9 OLED monitor becomes available,I'll buy one.

To be fair though, you did say your desk wasn't even 80 cm deep. A few centimetres can make a hell of a difference

my desk is 70CM deep.yes 10 extra CM will make it a more comfortable and I considered buying a new desk.but I don't think 10CM would have made that much of a difference.and there's no desk deeper than 80CM (that would be ridiculous) and I'm just talking about 34"..

I really wish they'd do a smaller OLED, like a 32" for example. There is definitely a market for one.

27" and 32" LG OLED Evo monitors are coming actually the 27" is coming early 2023, agree 27-30" is the sweet spot.

80cm helps but imo still not enough well not for myself and I have an 80cm depth desk. imo 1.2m or more would be the better distance but there really isnt such a depth sized desk it would have to be a custom build or you apply some DiY and put a mdf board at the back of your existing desk and maybe a new vinyl top cover so its one sealed desktop.

I still use a 28" VA 4K monitor as a regular daily monitor, but got my eye on the 32" next year.

My only concern is they do not say the resolution. I do not really want 1440p. I want a 27-34 flat 4k OLED, not in ultrawide either.

Yeah that is one of the issues I read about also, I believe due to the way these Evo panels are there not like your usual monitor panels hardware wise so they may not be able to get 4K pixels in these 27-32" new monitors due next year, I hope am totally wrong on that since I too only want a flat 4K monitor replacement.

I guess OLED would take priority at 1440p over anything else at 4K though. I have to remember that PC looks better than my Ps5 so high settings at 1440p is likely to still wow me over PS5 at 4k. Ultrawide worries me as I know how autistic I am and how distressing I'll find black bars if they happen. I have actually got a 34 1800r 1440p from Bezo WArehouse deals (so already used) to see if I can live with that size/res. If I can I'll go for the Dell OLED, if not, back to square 1.

Main point is, I don't have to be restricted on a 16:9 monitor as to what I can play properly. Having to mod games (of which will disable some elements like Elden Ring means only offline play with widescreen mod) is not desirable. It's just a nonsense I'd rather avoid.

So my monitor went pop last night and thinking of getting the 42" LG but as well as gaming, i do a lot of spreadsheet and photo editing work at home. Is the pixel array format going to annoy me when working on spreadsheets? I keep seeing mentioned in reviews the text clarity is not the best on the LG

Text clarity on any OLED isn't as crisp as an actual monitor, that's the honest truth and I went from 1440p monitors to the 42" LG. However given the size of the screen I'm sat quite a long way away, so the text doesn't bother me, it's not illegible etc. I do lots of typing etc on my home setup, I think the pro's outweigh the con's personally in this case. :)

I made my desk and the main top section with pc and LG C2 on it is a oak worktop so 64cm deep but I have made a pull out section for keyboard etc. which extends to around 125cm overall distance from TV which I find is great for me.

I have a 60cm desk with a 60cm pull out sliding keyboard shelf so like you i will be sitting over 1.2m away so making me think it will be fine.

Checked my existing Aw3821 monitor last night. the 42" oled would be just 1 innch wider but 4-5 inches taller so apart from the height, it wont look much different and I handle the current width fine atm

Has anyone gone from a 48" c1 to a 42" c2?
If so do you regret it at all? Any other thoughts?

Having second thoughts if I want to downgrade the size of my monitor as black Friday approaches.
Plus the price difference between the 42" and 48" is only £50 or so.

Depends how close you sit to the monitor. I went and saw the 48inch today and if I'm sitting at arms length I would have to tilt my head up to see all of the screen. Didn't have that issue with the 42inch. If you have costco near you, go see it.
