LG 42-inch OLED

The fourth letter of the second part of the product code (after the dot) on the box should tell you whether it's a WBC or WBE model. IIRC if it's P or W it's the newer WBE panel and if it's Q or Y it's the older WBC panel. Google these to be 100% sure as I'm only recalling from memory.

pretty sure from memory that got disproved early on with some P and W codes still being the old panel.

One guy suggested his AO 42C2 was WBE, can't confirm it.

Yeah for sure try price matching, they might spot the 12 months vs 5 year though but try it might get lucky....

Spent a fortune in Nov buying a 3090 Suprim X with a new build. Happy that I can max everything out on 27" 1440p screen.

Im tempted by this TV, however will my 3090 no longer be able to max out games if I move to 4K gaming?
I haven't had the 27" Dell that long, but love the idea of some good 4K Content on a big screen whilst gaming, but don't want to be back to a position where I am turning stuff down and tweaking, like I was with my Vega 56 at 1440p

Hello all

Not sure if anyone has seen this behaviour but very recently, after post my LG now goes black and if have to switch it off and on again? Latest GForce driver on a 3090 with HDMI 2.1. Never did it before.

Ive been gaming on 4k for around 5 years or more now. My 4090 handles 4k well esp with DLSS if you need/want better framerates. No complaints here.

Typo: Should have read 3090 :P

I have a 3080 but had something similar and it was because I had a display port cable plugged in for my VR headset, if I unplugged this and had the HDMI only it boots fine, never did figure out any solution other than leave unplugged and plug in when I need it

Very nice improvements with black shadow detail with the latest 03.20.40 firmware, I can now see details much better during dark scenes.

Running some near black test pattern videos, its certainly worked wonders, I recommend updating to this new firmware if you have not done so already
it does not appear to be fully available over the internet TV update so the usb firmware download flash is the easiest way to do it.

For everyone here, I have downloaded and installed the LG TV Companion app for Windows I spoke earlier in another post. It works fantastically well :

1- You can set a number of minutes after when the screen turns off when no activity is detected on the mouse. When you move the mouse again it automatically turns on again
2- You can set the screen to automatically turn off when computer turns off
3- You can set the screen to automatically turn on when the computer turns on

Highly recommended !

Morning all, finally received my C2 on Tuesday, all setup as per the previous videos linked but I'm finding it VERY warm.
Ah, just found out that if I open display settings in windows it then displays the correct colour temp, wondering if it's only loading the colour profile at that point..

Anyone found anything like this?

Also, is there anyway to switch quickly between picture modes? Had a good hunt around and through the menus but not seeing anything to allow a quick switch between normal viewing and games mode.

Never seen an issue like that myself, sounds almost like its some HDR glitch have you tried switching hdr off in windows just to check if the normal colour temps appear?

Might be worth double checking you don't have blue light or windows night light or any other temp controls on. Worth also checking everything is set up correctly in the graphics control panel 32bit, RGB, 10bit, 4k etc worth also trying a lower resolution and 8bit just to double check the issue is still there or not.

Also does not hurt to reset picture defaults or try another picture mode, you may have to try a few things and find out what's triggering the wrong colour temps since it should be straight forward really.

That is good news the article says monitors which it probably is but I wouldn't be surprised if LG also make smaller 27" and 32" bedroom size TVs.

Is the 42c2 still a good buy? It’s £929 currently ina few places and after not finding any LCD equivalent monitor that gets close, I think I’m ready to pull the pin on this, but why the drop in price?
