LG 42-inch OLED

Guys according to you what could it be that with oled C2 as a resolution I can only put in PC mode 2560x1440 120hz, I use the same settings as the C1, I updated the firmware, changed the hdmi cable, reset the tv, but if I reconnect C1 I can safely put 3840x2160 120hz video card 2080ti in your opinion and the tv to be replaced?

I'm unsure of what you are asking but from what I read you need hdmi 2.1 to get 120hz hdr content at 4k, and I think that came with nvidia 3 series cards.

edit: after looking online you might be able to use a dp 1.4 to hdmi2 convert, no idea.

You need 2.1 HDMI for true 4K120Hz on the TV - if you had it on the old TV it was likely using compression. Have you tried setting output colour format (formato colore output) to YCbCr420 and seeing if 4k 120Hz works?

on C2 it always remains 2k
if I try C1 again I can put the 4k at 120hz but with the limitations
for now I play in 2k, I would not want Oled C2 to have any kind of problem

One thing I STRONGLY suggest is to avoid the Asus PG42UQ.

The monitor is nothing short of stunning for gaming WHEN it's working. But the product currently seems like a prototype that's hit the market too early.

So many people are having issues with it, including myself. Strange screen artifacts, random blinking, having to disconnect and reconnect to get signal on power up. And when you look into it, these issues are the norm. You'll get some users who are happy with theirs, but a growing number of people are having more and more issues with it even if it does work well for the first week.

Save your money till something more stable comes out. And don't buy it, because returning it is painful. I'll miss it dearly.

Sains deal?

Was confused also was looking on sainsbury

check here

see the comment regarding down below:
Not a bad deal, can get this with the work discount for £900, sell the argos gift voucher and soundbar and it'll be down to £700.

Can't see it being lower than that on BF.

---------------

Basically they are getting it and then selling the soundbar which is already half out of stock but getting re-stocked soon, and also selling the gift voucher so once all that lot sells you might get it roughly £700, with a lot of effort. Someone posted they have an 4%-6% money back staff/discount
card so could do it for £620. Those are rough prices so might not be same for all so read all the comments those guys are in the know more on it.

Insane considering paid £1200 10 months ago.

Sad to hear that, there are always issues with 1st gen products be it QD-OLED or 42" monitors and it was always going to be hard to compete with an established product already on the market with more time to iron out the kinks.

Having said that LG take a good year to get firmware's to a point there really good Good and even then there is a new blank screen bug introduced in the last firmware which oddly occurs with PC desktop use, but not seen it yet.

Apparently LG are already producing the 27" OLEDs already and soon 32" next month, mentioned here

Possibly a move to 40" and 30" screens also, also in the comments section the article writer mentioned since its high end monitors from LG they will have to support 4K but take that with salt till its official.

Thanks for explaining the @R3X, I use Sains/Argos as I think most are now inside the supermarkets.

Wish you hadn't just shared that other link though lol

I know but you know the tech world, something new literally around the corner.

Maybe get both lol

One thing I have learned with LG CX and now C2, its not so cut and dry LG really fixed an nagging issue with black crush issue in a more recent firmware but it still took them a good 9-10 months to fix and improve on. So lets say you wait for the 27" or 32" new monitors in few months time id hate to imagine the bugs on that thing actually same can be said for the C3 which we will probably see in 2 months time.

Its like above post with that Asus PG42 monitor and bugs, really does hinder the products to the point you can't always enjoy it properly.

Toying with the idea of replacing my A3418DW Ultrawide as it's starting to exhibit some bad lingering image retention. Kind of interested in a C2 due to the 21:9 options if the price is decent around BF.

Had a brief skim around the thread and online but couldn't get an exact conclusion. Do they report to NV Control Pannel as a selectable resolution (ie. an actual 3840x1600-odd resolution) and allow you to use DSR factors on top of that?

Thanks in advance.

Bizarre LG still has these issues with their OLED displays (seeing as self-emissive true blacks is a key selling point). I had a B6 from when they launched. At around mid 2017 a firmware release massively elevated black levels that it would light up the room even on a pure black image. LG never really fixed that before moving support so you either had to dial down the brightness or roll back the firmware.

Yeah but only one year warranty. Would rather have 5 years from JL for £800 or 6 years from RS for £800 or even add the 5 year burn in warranty on JL for £90.

Plus you have the hassle of selling your £100 argos voucher (which you wont get for another month) and the hassle of selling the soundbar (prices will plummet as the market will be flooded with them) and the £95 nectar points, although nice, means you have to spend those £95 points somewhere, its not like you got £95 of your spend back.

Personally I would rather take the certain £800 deal now and no hassle. Plus JL are doing it on 18 months 0% payments if you want to just spend £40 per month. 0% interest free is worth a lot nowadays. RS is 4 months interest free as well so £200 per month.
