LG 42-inch OLED

Is the 42c2 still a good buy? It’s £929 currently ina few places and after not finding any LCD equivalent monitor that gets close, I think I’m ready to pull the pin on this, but why the drop in price?
Definitely. Price is always fructuating. I got mine a few months ago for the same price. Went up after I bought it, then came back down.

Yeah price went back up, was £869 just 2-3 days ago. Set up an alert on hotuk deals to alert you, having said that even £929 is decent, this was 1.3k+ 6 months ago.

£854 with 5 year warranty, lowest I think I have seen it here

Have to say absolutely love it!!
Was delivered at 10am, felt like a kid at Xmas!
Unpacked, cabled up, watched the vids above and now have it dialed in nicely!!
Picked up an MSI RTX 3090 Suprim X at a decent price, couldn't stretch for a 3090ti as well as the new screen.

Love the setup! I know this is an odd querstion given this is the monitor thread but how do you find the Logitech keyboard? I'm considering changing to a wireless one :). Which model have you got?

Thanks Tigget, love the keyboard, i have both the wired G815 Tactile and the wireless G915 Tactile, use the G815 on my home working setup, and the G915 as above for my gaming rig. Both are great, battery life is amazing and using USB to magnetic connector cables keeps charging when needed nice and easy.

Nice setup! I'm going to do something similar later in the year. What depth desk top are you using? I'm thinking of going with either 70cm or 80cm.

Cheers, the desktop is only 64cm deep! Ikea hack desk, Its a kitchen counter top. If I was buying again I would have gone with a deeper desktop from elsewhere to be honest. But the viewing distance from the screen is spot on.

Looking to buy this well my wife is for me as a belated bday present. However, I still have 1080Ti, what is good upgrade from this?

I don't need the best card as I don't game competitively and mostly will be using it for casual gaming(Far cry type games).

If possible i would look at a 3090 with the prices the way they are, I had a 3080 (non ti) and it coped ok, if you don't mind turning down the details a bit.
But I'm having no issues/regrets with a 3090 (non ti) which I bought second hand recently with the price drops which has come with a 2-year warranty.

**** the bed that is 'cheap'. Now put that against the Asus 'monitor' at £1350 nuts. Can't compare to the AW QD-OLED, diff tech and size etc. Good comment about potential for even cheaper deals due to World Cup and general economy up the *******.

I'm sure it's been covered in 78(!) pages but what is this like for working on? I think I'm ok with the size as it's not that much wider than my 35" ultrawide, but whilst I want it for games and am a gamer by night, 3 days a week I work from home which is basically Word/Excel and email.

I think I can live with the ABL and pixel shift but burn-in worries me big time.

Basically, I know it will be ace for PC gaming and PS5, but if it's a pain in the arse to live with for the other 3 days it's a no go.

Yeah, I thought that until I used my PC on my OLED in the front room as a test, the ABL is massive, particularly on things like sheets etc. The ASUS variant sounds like it might be an improvement but only marginally, so I've been considering an LCD as an alternative still, but the want for OLED is strong.

Its TPC not ABL that you see on the LG TV when using it as a desktop. The Asus monitor doesnt have any TPC (AFAIK) or its vastly less intrusive as the TV. You can buy a service remote and switch it off on LG C2 OLEDS. But be warned, there is a small risk that if you say have a spreadsheet open and the screen set too bright, that you may cause some burn in but wont if you are sensible and run the lG at say 120 nits (38%) for desktop use.
