LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

I've got a 48CX arriving on Monday from the Indian food shop
£200 off at the moment!
(If you get burn-in you've got the brightness too high. I calibrate at 180Nits).
LG CES 2021 conference is at 1pm GMT tomorrow. If they don't announce a new 48 inch, then I'll be going for the 48cx at £1279 plus £140 for burn in insurance. That'll last me for 5 years until micro led is mainstream I hope..
Even if they announce a new model I think it will be some time for availability. The VRR 'issue' is the only slight negative on the current model and I don't really consider that a problem. My 48CX arriving between 7:55 to 11:55 tomorrow :)

Only thing putting me off getting the 48cx is the vrr gamma issue.

I've not noticed any issue with this on my CX48

For those that have the 48cx, what monitor arm or mount are you using? I'd prefer a fixed arm but cant find one that supports 48 inch.

I just use a stand off Amazon. Its one of their most popular ones and cost £20-ish. Allows you to push it back so the screen is only 15cm off the wall. Looks ok to with a black glass base.

Do any of you guys currently use or are considering using one of the steel rope hanging style wall mounts?

Looks like the wall to screen depth is only around 6cm.

I use this one(M) , and its slightly smaller brother (suffix S) for my existing LG 65inch and 55inch OLEDs.

Just check weight of the screen.

My 48CX has arrived and setup on kitchen table running test patterns. No dead/bright pixels.
Just be aware that the supplied stand needs 8 inches behind the front of the screen and 2 inches in front.
Not a problem on my main desk, but might be slightly tricky on the new machine test setup in a spare bedroom.

Yes discussed to death. Get a Sanus VTSV1 stand or similar. Next gen stands will fix this bad design, I hope.

Awesome! 42" 4k will be a nice improvement over the 48 for 80cm viewing.

I found the posterization much improved especially with those dark scenes fading into bright on netflix but the flashing blacks still there sadly, setting brightness to 49 helped a little. This was with the newer firmware via their site.

Only other way to avoid the posterization and flashing or floating blacks or as much as you can is to get higher bitrate files or better source material.

Yeah I think Netflix encoding is just bad in the last couple years. Which is sad, because if you check out older DV stuff on Netflix, like the Meridian test demo from 2016 - it's almost perfect, amazing, amazing blacks that make you realize what is possible even on streaming. Not sure why Netflix has made it so terrible on all recent shows. I guess most LCD users would never notice...

Ha! Wheres Mr AORUS - he was so adamant that nothing of the sort could ever happen ever ever ever...

Frankly it was blindingly obvious with the popularity of the 48 model that there was a big segment of the market looking for smaller OLED panels and voila, LG have magicked one out of thin air apparently.

speechless myself ! I was saying a 40 or 43" oled would have been perfect size and doubt it would ever come out, however now that I have 48" I actually find it just spot on for films but will have to see now.

Someone on avs tested the floating blacks issue off there Amazon 4K firestick and it works perfect on netflix, just the inbuilt TV netflix app and android/sheild pro netflix app also have the floating black issues. So its an odd one, maybe the apps are causing the issues not the OLEDs not even sure if they are aware either.

To be fair, Im not knocking anyone who bought the 48 as a desktop monitor. Some people can clearly make it work, whereas I find it far too big on my desk, as I mentioned in this thread a little earlier. Unfortunately, I had the 48cx long enough to have tried 4k/120hz gaming and frankly its difficult to go back to even a good IPS panel after that :(

So I did the only sensible thing and bought the larger OLED panel and am using it as a secondary gaming screen in another room ;)

Agree the 48CX is still good but even I struggle with its size, its just that notch bit too big sadly, I wished they bought out the 42" in the first place and I think for my own health for eye sight and headaches I may still have to sell of this LG and go for that one, but will see like TheBizness said a 48" for actual TV and movie watching is very nice you would notice those fewer less inches, guess you can't have it all.
