LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

Someone on avs tested the floating blacks issue off there Amazon 4K firestick and it works perfect on netflix, just the inbuilt TV netflix app and android/sheild pro netflix app also have the floating black issues. So its an odd one, maybe the apps are causing the issues not the OLEDs not even sure if they are aware either.

Oh interesting! I might need to get an Amazon 4k firestick then until LG/Netflix get their **** together.

Agree the 48CX is still good but even I struggle with its size, its just that notch bit too big sadly, I wished they bought out the 42" in the first place and I think for my own health for eye sight and headaches I may still have to sell of this LG and go for that one, but will see like TheBizness said a 48" for actual TV and movie watching is very nice you would notice those fewer less inches, guess you can't have it all.

48 CX is great when I scoot back and watch content or play on my PS5. But for PC gaming and general PC usage, 42" would be way better, I have no doubt about that. The 48" itself I think was an experiment from LG and it must have sold really well for them to be doing 42" now.

The 42 inch oled is a G1 which will be better for smaller depth desks as it is flush against the wall. I think I'm going to wait and get this on launch. Not bothering with black Friday as I know it won't come down in price until new years like the 48cx.

netflix stranger things season 3-ep 6 20 mins and also Amazon primes black box film 15 minutes in are known trouble maker scenes for flashing or floating blacks since they both involve pitch black room scenes, but the new firmware has big improvements in posterization still which is good. Am at a loss why the Firestick handles the same stuff fine, even my Nvidia shield pro @ £200 can't play it properly yet a £50 firestick can is bonkers.

Yeah I think ill have to go for the 42", it really is the sweet spot. I think we will see lots of OLEDs going for Sale on flebay, wonder how much it is to do insurance of delivery of an OLED.

Like adding peanut chocolate on top of a chocolate cake now, really does sound like the CX48 was an experiment and G142 was what it should have been in the first place.

Only thing is can't feel good about the price tag and surely this thing can't be releasing soon it would effectively kill 48CX sales, then again LG clearly don't care at this point.

Weird thing is this wasn't announced on the press conference. They only mentioned a new 83 inch to the G1 lineup. Maybe that report on a 42 inch for this year was fake.. or it's not releasing at the same time.

I think 42" is better for desktop use but I wouldn't trade my 48CX for one as 48" is absolutely perfect as an all round gaming/TV/Netflix screen. I'll continue to use my Dell for desktop use but it's really good to see LG have shrunk the design size again. A 32" variant will probably tempt me to go for it as a full time desktop monitor, and if it could be 21:9 then even better :p

Also Vincent said 20-30 inch OLED panels, but it wasn't 100% confirmed, that alone will cause gamers to go full split bananas

A lot of production studios are using LG OLED panels these days as reference monitors (Sony/FSI for example) - it could be possible the 42" is targeted specifically for the pro use case, and we won't see it in a consumer display. I really hope we do see it though.

Yeah its confusing, seems they have different classes now from LG you got A series like a budget OLED series then C class series, 48inch and to the bigger sizes, but this video the guy didn't mention 42" panels.

Guess since its just a panel no actual product or manufacturer release exactly, could be geared towards the pro users.

Give it a week or two and we may see some real details or what's what I guess.

Yep. Shame. Well, if that's the case, I'm buying the 48cx for £1279.

Isn't today the last day for that 200 quid offer?

Terrible spot to be in frankly ! , not unless you can place an order and have it delivered in 2- 3 weeks that way it gives some time for better clarity if we do actually see a 42" panel from a manufacturer arrive soon or even the C class 48inch or G1 series. If we go by Vincent, than the 42" if real even then its this fall or next year and that is if its true also.

Got a price match with John Lewis that lasts for 28 days.
