LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

DO IT. Really happy with mine, just sold my G7 32" today, so all in the upgrade to the CX cost me about £750.
Can I ask how much you sell your G7?
I also have a G7 (27”) bought 3 months ago and it’s great but can’t get OLED out of my head! not sure if selling monitors is easy..do you use the CX on desk? Isn’t the size overwhelming?

in two years you might need more, that's why the 3090 was the best future deal
maximum 10% better performance for 2x price of the 3080 is a NOT a good deal whichever way you look at it.in 2 years time IF most games demand more than 10GB (unlikely) they will also demand faster, more advances GPUs,and 3090 won’t cut it anyway.
3080 FE is the best.

Have received my CX on Sunday I am blown away by the image it produces. Great for Films and Gaming :)

Have resigned myself to forget burn and use as I would a normal monitor for my productivity. I was going to share tasks with 2 other 30" Dell, but with some caveats. OLED light is on 36 all time mostly on game or Dark ISF mode, icons are on dells and taskbar is auto hid. Still running a fixed background which is very dark I doubt will cause much of any issue I hope. Although will research animated backgrounds later. Will sort out powertoys software also later.
Had the TV around 100cm from me at first since then have moved it closer 80cm as finding my eyesight problematic as need an overdue eye test having to switch glasses to view side Dells all time is annoying. Hence my commitment to use this as main productivity display. I have TV software on PC which I use to bring up full screen on empty black channel as screen block if leaving room, but problem mostly I have is after given time CX loses signal where other monitors would go into standby. It will not come back from loss of signal and Dells go blank have to hard reset. Which is a real pain at minute have to find a workaround.

Overall very impressed not finding to large either really just need to adjust my working on it. I use F11 a lot on browser but this goes full screen all time. I am hoping with powertoys configured if I press F11 it will only expand to limits of set grid. Just thought I would jot down some first impressions for those who are interested.

I found a really easy way to get ultrawide 21:9 type resolutions. If you go into NVCP->Adjust Desktop Size and Position, go to the "Resize" tab and check the box to allow resizing desktop for display. After that, you'll get all the ultrawide resolutions in the normal resolution selection, like 3840x1620. I was playing with this last night, it felt a lot nicer for full screen FPS when you're up close.

By the way Richer sounds are also doing the 48cx for £1279, you can call them and they will knock off 20 quid if you say you saw it at PRC/Sevenoaks.

If you have recently grabbed it it don't forget some companies have a price promise so always worth a shot.

It's *big* man, and I came from a 32" G7. Luckily I have a deep desk so it's about 71/72cm away from my eyeballs which is just about doable. Still taking some getting used to the size though, glad I didn't go for the 55" (albeit much cheaper!!)

try Flux app
https://justgetflux.com/

or try windows 10 Night light

and adjust slider to a better brightness, contrast setting or one your eye balls prefer, its a headache and eye strain relief.

Thanks @R3X

I've got a problem where my 6800XT (and now the Red Devil 6900XT) only allow me to select YCBCR 4:2:0 8bit and it's annoying. Tried a second cable too and no luck but I should be getting a proper cable tomorrow (these are 2 older cables I'm using).

Anyone else had this issue with AMD cards? I've turned on the 10bit function too, no change.

Deep colour enabled on the hdmi port also ? Worth also manually flashing the latest firmware in case its not been updated over internet.

I did read a very long time ago someone had a similar issue I think he went back to a older AMD driver like 3 months or 5 months back and it worked oddly with 10bit. Sometimes its the AMD driver that can be tad buggy.

Could just as easily be the cable though, worth trying all the hdmi cables around the home in case, usually its those short thick cables that can do well.

Yeah that’s why I’m hesitant about buying one,I don’t have/want such deep large desk.
that being said,I only use that PC for gaming and 90% of times with gamepad so could be more manageable.
Still I MUCH prefer a 40/42” size if/when they become available..

£500 cash mate, sold it few days back. Only paid £509 when it launched! :)

I think I have been pretty up front when it comes to the whole distance and desk thing, my eyes still suffer and I get the odd headaches and am 100-110cm away with an 80cm depth desk, 48" is really big for me its doable and you do get use to it but if you can 100%, id say wait for the 42" LG OLED screen.

There is a pro and con to it though, watching from 2-3 metres away the 48" is lovely, id certainly miss those few inches for film watching, you can't have it all though I guess.

LG still haven't announced their 42" oled panel so its anyone's guess when it comes out, I hope they don't market it as a high-end oled gaming monitor with a 2k price tag.

I wonder if anyone else have this “issue” re buying a 48 CX as monitor?

my main TV is a 1.5 years old 55” Samsung QLED (4k 60hz only).which I’m happy with.

but if I buy the 48 CX as monitor, then I can’t go back to the QLED for regular TV/Film viewing as the PQ downgrade will be noticeable, this means I have to replace the main TV with another 55” CX too,so buying 2 CXs..and spending nearly 3 grand.
That’s a lot on money to invest on TVs!

Bear in mind it's a burn in risk if you game regularly with the black bars.
