LG DM2780D 27" 3D monitor

guys i was contacted a week ago by phone, you have to send off your old pair of glasses for "inspection" they will then send you the new pair, i even sent a picture of receipt.
I havent had time to send off yet but i am going too soon.

also they will repay for postage if you can be bummed.

well they have my glasses but I'm still getting the runaround, got told today they have contacted head office now. Its gonna be difficult to send it back to the rainforrest without them!!! fools that they are, gonna get grief tomorrow.

You are wrong Faz. I spoke to LG customer services last Friday (spoke to a guy i think was called Lewis) and he said that LG are now very aware of the large problem with the wrong glasses being provided with these monitors/TV's that they have changed the way they are dealing with this on these models. He did say that normally you would have to send the glasses back but with the D2342 model (and i am pretty sure the M2780D model too) you need to take a screenshot/scan of your receipt and give them some details from the sticker on the back of the monitor and they will send you a pair of the correct glasses out to you. I asked what should i do with the pair of glasses i have that are the wrong type and he said i can give them to someone who has an LG cinema 3D TV or keep them in case i get an LG cinema 3D TV in the future.

I am saying this hoping that LG have sent my glasses out as i have not received my glasses yet after my conversation last Friday. If i have to contact them again over this issue and they have changed their minds then i will 'tear them a new one' as they have not sent me an e-mail or phoned me to tell me there is a problem with sending my replacements.

I went through all this, and have just got an email from their escalations team at head office saying that it is with thier technical dept and they cannot give me a timescale on resolution!!

To be honest, even though it was a cracking deal I am going to give up - Amazon have been great and have authorised a refund even though its outside of the 30 days, as the item is clearly not fit for purpose.

I am extremely dissapointed with LG, I thought this was an easy fix and I liked the monitor but they have really put a downer on it.

I am going to pursue them for the cost of numerous phonecalls on 0845 numbers (lots from my mobile as it was during the day) as a point of principle and speak to Watchdog, and trading standards (as the TV has been miss sold and unfit for purpose) - its not 3DCinema its a 3D Monitor.

Very grumpy and annoyed!! :mad::mad:

I will be ringing them again next wenesday when they allegedly say the glasses should be sent out, I'm sick now like so gonna look at contacting watchdog today as they are just getting silly. How can such a large company screw up so badly and then add insult to injury by making us all pay to return the glasses, they say they are awaiting stock but at the mo its a useless monitor in a box.

It's extremely bad service from LG TBird and tipsy, just what are they playing at. I sent them an e-mail last night asking for confirmation they have sent the glasses as they had agreed last Friday. I asked them to reply by e-mail (so i would have it in writing) I also told them that the clock is ticking for me as I may need to return the monitor if I don't receive the correct glasses that LG should have provided with the monitor.

If you go to the thread on these cheap 'catleap' monitors you will see 27" S-IPS 2560x1440 monitors being sent from Korea quicker than LG can deliver a pair of cheap 3D glasses to one of their 'valued' customers. This LG monitor is the second LG monitor I have bought recently but I can tell you it will be the last thing I (and probably every person I know) buy with the letters LG on the front.

EDIT: just had an e-mail from LG telling me they are out of stock and are waiting for a delivery of the glasses. It was nice of them to let me know straight away instead of me having to e-mail them for an answer.

On the LG spare parts website they have 2 different sets of glasses one of which is £20.99 and in stock and the other set which it says is also for use with the DM2350 monitor so what are the ones it says are in stock?

Really feel for you guys as I seem to be one of the very few who actually got the correct glasses (3D Monitor ) and the D2342P is a joy to use for 3D gaming. This is a big gaff by LG and will lose them a lot of customers. I myself was looking at the passive LG tv range with a view to a purchase but having seen the very poor customer service in this thread has frankly put me off LG.:(

hi guys first post here im in the same boat as everyone else i got my dm2780d on march 29 th and found the ghoasting straight away so within days contacted lg with the pic off this site and they told me they will send out replacements there waiting on new stock so i asked the person are they aware of this and they said thats why there waiting on a large ordr so well done everyone now they have taken note i will let you all know when i recieve them

Welcome to the OcUK forum fellow scouser and good luck getting them glasses as I think LG have strapped them to the back of a snail in Korea and told it to go as fast as it can to the UK.

:D

Still waiting for mine, I'm looking for some compensation now. I've paid for a 3D monitor and can't watch it.

Waiting over a week for a pair of glasses is silly. 2-3 days MAX!!

Don't bother waiting for the right glasses, just get a refund. I tried 2 DM2780D monitors and display sucks even with the right 3D glasses which LG eventually sent me. I'm done with this monitor. Hopefully the new DM92 which is supposed to be available later this year will be better.

Can you start up your trust account please as I want to ask a few things about the DM2780D.

I have no issues with the monitor, I really like it but still waiting for the glasses

I am the same - the monitor is fine as a 2D monitor BUT I bought it as a second monitor to watch 3D films and play games in 3D but i still can't do this as the snail who is delivering the glasses to LG has not turned up yet. Come on LG pull your finger out!

Really wish I had waited another 2 weeks as I would have bought the Samsung S23A700 120Hz 3d monitor Overclockers are selling with the VAT back offer for £199 (with the VAT money back £166)

I've had three active 3D displays (1 x Samsung TFT Monitor, 1 x BenQ TFT Monitor and a Samsung 46" LED) and I wouldn't have another if you paid me.

Now that I've tried Passive (LG 46" LED and this one) I'd never have another active. Not even if you paid me. MUCH better

You're really comparing apples to oranges when you compare 3D computer monitors to larger screen 3D TV's where you sit significantly further away from the screen. Comparing the Samsung T27A950 and S27A950 to the LG DM2780D the Samsung has some ghosting but the LG monitor has the worst 3D I've ever seen and the 2D is also poor in comparison to any other 27" monitor. I personally found the 3D quality of the LG 3D Cinema TV's to be significantly better than the DM2780D monitor, but no one is going to be putting a 46" 3D TV on their desk and using it as a monitor.

which is why I was comparing Active/Passive rather than TV/Monitor

Mines the 23" model though not the 27" if it makes much of a difference. This has replaced the XL2420T which is quite highly spoken of.

Can't obviously comment on the 3D, as I have no glasses :(:(:(:(

If you're going to compare Active against Passive 3D it's best to compare screens of similar size. There's often a difference in dot pitch between 23 inch and 27 inch displays.

Don't be put off mate, I bought a 42" LG TV recently which is the passive type and although we have had no problems to experience LG's customer service, the TV and 3D cinema kit work flawlessly. Me and the mrs are truly amazed at the quality of picture and sound. Being our 1st LG purchase, we are very happy.
