LG OLED 2024 thread - A4, B4, C4, G4

Do OLEDs still suffer from pink or yellow tint on pure white/grey screens? I remember what an order it was back in the day getting one without it. It's only really an issue if you also use your tv as a monitor IMO or watch black and white programs.

Our Sony KD75 XF9005 died last night. Whilst I'm in the process of trying to find replacement power units I've been looking at the 77" G4. Our wall is recessed, it should fit, just!

Anyone think there will be black friday deals on this TV?

Also, OLED screen burn - annoyingly, some folk in our household leave the TV paused while they eat, poop, go to work etc. Are OLED still susceptible to screen burn?

I don't think burn in has been an issue since 2018 models onwards IMO. If you get burn in its almost certainly a faulty pannel.

I've been gaming on mine for 8 years, with HUDs on for hours on end, never had an issue.

Been getting used to the 77" G4 over the past week or so, automatically playing more games, crikey at its brightest need sunglasses lol..

That's why early research shows the the huge increases in TV brightness over the last 7 years is having a negative impact on eyesight

1500 nits HDR really pops but it's our eyes that's doing the popping

Same, I've not seen anything too tempting recently though and prices seem to have been lower in the past. That said some of the deals on the C4 are making it difficult to justify potentially spending so much extra on a G4.

Has the G4 been under £2000 then ? they all seem to be around £2200 with a soundbar offer. I don't need a sb but it does look nice underneath the tv when wall mounted.

Yeahm, scrolling back through expired deals on HotUKDeals shows a few under £2k, I'd imagine they'll come back around soon enough. Richer Sounds have a free soundbar offer but all the reviews suggest LG soundbars aren't anything special so I'd rather get another Samsung one.

Don't really need the free soundbar many people have sold those to CEX or on classified forums, i am also considering the Samsung S95D.

I have a oled55cs, bit of a butchering between the screen of a c1 and the internals of a c2… well from what I see online.

It was a bargain at £800 a few years ago.

That being said, I’m really tempted by the oled55g4.

I’m weary I wouldn’t notice too much of a difference… am I right or wrong?!

For the first time, 2024 models have a better CPU in G series over C series. So if that's a consideration e.g. you use the inbuilt apps a lot or want to keep the TV a long time, it's worth the thought. Not that the C4 CPU is a slouch.

I don't think I have seen a case, there were some 2018 and 2019 TVs getting it. Its been like 4-5 years so if it was going to happen it should have happen now roughly.

Hopefully its the end of the dreaded burn in and it dies a myth!

Thanks, that was my conclusion too based on the many glowing reviews. 65" G4 arrives on Friday. :)

I have the old C9 and use the major streaming apps. I'm impressed at how responsive and up to date they all are.
