LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Lol yeah this was like my only worry before getting one. Its an amazing screen but I don't know if I can live with that for the price...
How much does it cost to send back to OCUK? as I think that im definatly going to have to try another.

Is it better to RMA it than just send it back as unwanted since iv only had it a day? I think id rather have a new panel that have OC attempt to fix that.

I have one of these monitors and also a 21:9 TV (Philips 58PFL9955H - http://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/58PFL9955H_12/cinema-219-147-cm-58-inch-full-hd-1080p-digital-tv) - unfortunately they've stopped making them. Its resolution is 2560 x 1080p IIRC.

I would definately go 21:9 again for my TV if/when I make the 4K move - providing they exist of course.

In normal tv viewing I lose a bit off the top and bottom of the pic (e.g. the leader and lap counts on F1 stats) but I can put it back and it stretches the outer 1/4 or so of each side of the picture but keeps the middle in the normal 16:9 ratio. In practice you don't notice anything wrong unless you stare at the edges of the picture of a while.

I was shocked it was out in 2010.

There's one in stock for £2399.

If they agree that it is bad, they will send a brand new one out, they will only repair it if you have past the 14 days.

You really want to see what a 21:9 ultra wide monitor can do download this bad boy :D then cry at having to use your credit card to buy one of these ;)

Mad Max (2015) reboot with Tom Hardy just released to the web by Warner Bros. Ultra high bit rate trailer (422MB). Fills the screen & looks jaw droppingly stunning on a 34" 21:9  ;) PQ almost makes Bluray seem like VHS

Thanks ill download that :D

Turns out the picture I posted above isn't bleed but ips glow... There is some bleed on the right hand side but its IPS glow in the bottom corners... is that normal or should I send that back? From my point of view if the top right corner can look perfect why cant the bottom corners?

Looks great! Can't wait for that film

I recommend oblivion, avatar and pacific rim for showing sheer quality of these 21.9 monitors, of course blu rays ;)

It does look stunning though... Any other places to download some high res videos to test on this? I downloaded some 4k ones but they were PUV files or something and wouldn't work in VLC player. And the one that I did download was in 4:3 format lol

Alien (1979) bluray looks like a new movie on my 34" UM65 ;)

The following 2.35.1 aspect ratio Blurays also look terrific:
Star Trek (2009)
Star Trek Into Darkness
Gravity
Forbidden Planet (1956)
Paul
Red Planet
Titanic

For any prospective other buyers you really need to download & use the following when playing 2.35.1 movies back on an LG 21:9:

Media Player Classic HC
VLC Media Player
Arcsoft Totalmedia Theatre 5 or 6

Cyberlink PowerDVD series does not allow a 2.35.1 movie to fill the screen unless you also own AnyDVD-HD (which removes the HDCP prohibited operations lock from Blurays/HD-DVD's).

Without AnyDVD-HD you will find most 2.35.1 Blurays/HD-DVDs will not fill the screen as the prohibted user operations locks optical media to 1920x1080 only.

Buy AnyDVD-HD then use that to either play the optical media without user restrictions or extract the file then re-encode as MKV or MP4.

Mkv files stutter badly unless played back in Media Player Classic HC that seems to be the best mkv player out there & is 100% free :D
