LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Here is some more info on the 94 model:

Hey Everyone,
After dozens of calls, emails, pitches, and presentations (drum roll please)... XXXXX has been approved as a direct account with LG!
It's taken some time, but we finally have preliminary pricing for your monitor. If enough people join the buy, we might be able to list it for $800 shipped.
Here's the kicker (and the reason it's taken me six days to post this update), we cant list the 34UM95, we're going to list the 34UM94 instead. Don't know that monitor? Neither does anyone else because it comes from the LG Pro line. Why would we list the pro version? It's the exact same monitor but it comes with an extra two years of manufacturer's warranty. We've also been told the 34UM94 is black instead of silver but we'll confirm when the sample arrives.
What do you think of a 34UM95 with a black case and 3 years of warranty coverage from LG for ~$800 shipped? (all shipped prices are assuming you're in the US, international shipping will cost a small fortune by virtue of the weight)
Let me know and I'll get back to LG for the next steps in getting this listed : )

Black case? So on the back it will be black? What's the point :p

As for extended warranty. I hope they buckle up existing support first before increasing warranty...

No idea :D

If it comes over to the UK I think it will be more expensive because of the 3 year warranty. I was hoping for a cheaper version, but then again I would prefer the 95 and the option of thunderbolt connections for my future new Mac. Might happen sooner than later as my Mac Pro started crashing last night for the first time ever :(

My 290 copes perfectly fine with the 2560x1080 res. Just my CPU holding me back atm, at least in non-mantle games....

MPC-HC? Pfffff! MPC-BE is where it's at!

Only reason I still have MPC HC is because it was originally needed to work properly with LAV codecs and madvr etc. Since LAV codecs are now built into MPC, it doesn't really matter though so I shall be switching to it soon :D

Speaking of which, to get the very best quality from MPC, follow this guide:

Alien (1979) bluray looks like a new movie on my 34" UM65 ;)

The following 2.35.1 aspect ratio Blurays also look terrific:
Star Trek (2009)
Star Trek Into Darkness
Gravity
Forbidden Planet (1956)
Paul
Red Planet
Titanic

Shockingly, I don't have Alien in my film collection  :o

And yup those first 3 films are also superb for showing of these 21.9 monitors

mrk.... Man 68,564 and counting forum posts, bloody hell well done you... any other hobbies??

I've been a member since 2002, postcount is nothing over 12+ years of almost daily posting in photography/tech subforums.

For my hobbies see my sig links. I get around literally everywhere

Most certainly will :D Got so many other films that I still need to watch as well!

Can't wait for that game, hopefully it will actually be good and not end up like colonial marines :o

Everything about it, the original cast involved, the original props and film archive data and different dev team = Nothing like CM ;)
CM Single Player is actually quite good  I know its a crazy thing to say right ;)

If you have an Nvidia GPU you must disable Ambient Occlusion in the NV control panel as that ruins the gfx. Then the game looks very good for an Unreal Engine 3 game especially in native 21:9. I even ended up buying all the SP DLC which includes a lengthy campaign explaining how Michael Biehn survived Alien 3 after all as he is the main character in the DLC along with Lance Henriksen :D

I was amazed after disabling AO how much difference it made to the gfx they suddenly seemed a lot better as all light sources became high quality bloom objects & the atmosphere was movie like as the smoke/mist also returned:eek:
The game appears to be hard coded to use its own modded AO scheme so the default Nvidia scheme destroys the gfx
