LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Manufactured in June: both bottom corners have significant backlight bleed. The top left hand side / corner is less severe. Requesting an exchange from overclockers... Fingers crossed. This is really inconvenient.

That's a shame mate. If you only have bleed on the bottom corners I would just do the bezel trick as it removed the bleed for me and your not going to get one that has no bleed at all to be honest. All mine were June too.

Managed to fart something out that can talk to the LG calibrator. Whips through the greyscale chart in 10% increments taking readings at each one, and lists how far out the calibration is.

Next up: calibrating my tv! This little thing's turning out to be a bargain.

I think a curved monitor when your so close to the screen would just annoy me lol.
I can understand with a Huge TV and sitting far back but I think I still prefere my monitors straight.
Im curious how the bleed would be on that though.

Am I going to be an early adopter all over again?

Not from Germany this time though :p

Edit*
And only if Dell has nothing to compete...

Edit2*
No! I said no more LG so no more LG. Come on Dell!

We shall be having the curved ones first, afterall I asked LG for it several months ago, so were first in the queue as to speak, though I was hoping for 38" design, but the 34" still looks good.

Bit cheeky but would you in that case send one out for review? I would post it up on our very forums in fact and have the non curved version to compare directly against after all!

Think of the exclusivity :)

I think the big question is how backlight bleed is affected on the curved ones and have LG learnt from past mistakes. Only one way to find out and pro review sites don't seem to go into as much detail in these areas as many of us here would like (hence one of the reasons this thread is so huge).

I don't really like all this curved display stuff, imo it is rather pointless unless you are ALWAYS sitting at the right distance and directly in the middle.

I rather these manufacturers give us 120Hz IPS displays instead!

IM wondering how a curved LG will effect the IPS glow...you should see it less realistically because the screen is curved more towards you but I can imagine with LG it would be worse lol.

As nice as the curved display photos above look, I will not budge! Get me one for review and compare and maybe things will change depending on how good it is :p

Wonder how much a curved monitor impacts on production and shipping costs? Everything being nice and flat and 'square' (you know what I mean) must be simpler...

I'm hoping it doesn't make that much difference as I'm one of the enthusiasts for curved, despite never having actually used one. Duh.

I'm really tempted by this monitor but scared too by all the stories of poor levels backlight bleed and IPS glow. Are these related to a particular batch that has since been fixed or am I completely taking a roll of the dice with my cash by buying one of these?

No way would I want curved for desktop use.

If it was 100"+ sitting 15 feet or so away for TV and Movies then I could may be see the appeal but even then why curve it if you can see all the screen in front of you without turning your head.
